Talking of re-makes I went to see Dredd last week. For a certificate 18 there was naff all nudity of any note. During a mind-reading scene with a bad guy and Judge Anderson there is a hint of rape but it was all fuzzy and no shot of tats, arse or minge. Plenty violent enough though and all the gore splatters in glorious 3D were effective. Not the greatest film I have ever seen but it couldn't help but be better than the awful effort Stallone made of the first attempt. 7 out of 10.
Basically no. Previous films and comic books already have a fanbase so people will go along to watch these even if they are **** generating a **** load of cash. The movie execs see the $ signs and greenlight another reboot. And it just goes round in circles.
Also heard they are going to make a sequel of Green Lantern and will make the character the first openly gay super hero. I can already imagine the jokes about how he uses his 'magic ring'. Do we expect to see giant CGI green butt-plugs and the like?
He had a right fit bird in the film as I recall (what a honker of a movie though, utter dross) but DC Comics are about to re-boot the series where our ring wearing hero gets his ring worn out. Check out the link showing him enjoying a stroll through the park with his best mate. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...305686/The-Green-Lantern-rebooted-as-gay.html Looks light on his feet alright.
Eh? This is like one of those re-ordering of the cosmos things that popes do every so often? "There are no unbaptised souls in a ring of purgatory, these are not the ethereal droids you're looking for."
It's comics. They have to re-invent themselves every few years and the alternate universe is one of the favourite ploys along with killing off all the lesser known characters and if they need to bring them back for any reason come up with the amnesia or in stasis routine. No different to Bart Simpson still being 10 years old despite the series being on air for over 20 years. A good dose of suspension of dis-belief is required. Green Lantern being a friend of Dorothy is rather extreme though.
