I'm very well. I'm actually already outside, and reclining in a deck chair type arrangement. But thank you for your concern.
Isnt York the capital of Yorkshire? And isnt it funny that TWS fans never seem to bring up the fact that per head of population they're the worst supported team in the UK.
York is capital of North Yorkshire. The consensus is that Leeds is the capital of the four quadrants as a whole. And I personally do talk about our representation per capita, although you're wrong, I know for a fact that Wakefield for one are worse supported than us, and I'm sure I could find at least five other examples.
I wouldn't waste your time, the nugget thinks there are four ridings of Yorkshire, so she's hardly likely to know the Shire Town even given the clue in the County name.
Really? Go on then, which of North, South, East and West is not a valid part of Yorkshire then? A quadrant is anything which, combined with three others, makes a whole. So it's ****e to say that just because one of them wasn't a historical Riding, they aren't a part of the county.
South Yorkshire's an artificial concept, originally invented by our very own Winifred Holtby. Only an ignorant fool thinks the great Shire of York is in four bits.
"and the people of East Yorkshire return to their default mental setting." You got that bit right at least... Looking down the table at Leeds City United as speak.
Is there any justification for all this 'embarrassing' fanbase stuff? Actually, I've just read all the other stuff and clearly you're just on a talking nonsense crusade. Sayig any cluib has a 'rightful place' is utter horseshit and only underlines the fact you're yet another history-dwelling Leeds fan. The worst bit you wrote though is that it 'takes something' to be a Leeds fan. **** off. Aside from maybe Man United, Leeds are one of the very worst clubs for random fans from all over the place with no affiliation who just choose the club randomly and have never been to a game or even thought about it. It takes absolutely **** all to just go and pick a team like Leeds, buy a shirt to wear around your local City centre (not Leeds of course) and call yourself a fan. It's an insult to all the proper football fans who support real teams all over the country to say something like that.
The word Riding originates from the word Thriding meaning third - ie the three parts being North West and East Riding of Yorkshire - York was at the centre of them and separate from the three. Winifred Holtby wrote the book South Riding fictionally based around these parts. South Yorkshire came about as a result of the Local Gov Review of 74 when it created the metropolitan authorities of West and South Yorkshire the latter being essentially part of the old West Riding...
OK whatever, you can keep thinking Sheffield, Barnsley and Donny are in the West Riding if you like and replace 'quadrant' with 'third'. Makes no difference to me and my argument. All regions are 'artificial constructs', I'm just using the artificial construct that's best-recognized and most up to date. Yes it does. We've not won a trophy for twenty years and yet people still support us. Bit different to Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool (the other big nationally supported sides), isn't it. I base our rightful place on factors in the present, not the past, but by all means keep harping on about that non sequitur. I'd say your fans are embarrassing because of the constant 'Leeds scum' chants when we play you, booing Marching on Together (while pretending it's just East Yorkshire Whites you hate rather than the club as a whole... riiiight), the tiger outfits and embarrassing **** like that, the lack of any sort of original club anthem and generic songs like 'city til I die', the fact half your fans supported Man U and Liverpool before your promotion... and yes, the mauled song.
Tell me, what are these present factor that make Leeds' 'rightful place' emoticon-0119-puke any higher than they are now? The Leeds scum chants are because we don't like you. I know some people claim it's only Hull whites but personally I do hate Leeds as a club, the way they play and the way they have always played. I'm not old enough to have been at school with loads of Leeds fans, but I can see why that has an impact for a lot of people round here too. If hating Leeds is embarrassing, then I guess Leeds fans are the only ones who aren't embarrassing. Tiger outfits? Are there a lot of those? Ha, the lack of a club anthem like MOT, Blowing Bubbles or You'll Never Walk Alone? Personally I think they're all ****e, have no relevance to anything and are only sung because they've always been sung. What about not having one of those is embarrassing? There's a debate going on right now about why we have less fans now than when we were in the 3rd Division. Just because you think we're little Hull and we can't have had many fans until we got in the PL, doesn't make it true. We've got no more fans now than then, and the raise in attendances when we were in the PL was no more than any other club. Even if it was true, you can't really use having former fairweather-glory supporters as fans against us when Leeds is one of the worst clubs in the country for that kind of fan right now. If you don't like glory types, you don't like 99% of TWS fans.
Wakefield hasnt got a professional football team, and please do go ahead. Have you opened the West Stand for games this season by the way?
Using that logic I assume you must consider Hull City as having the very best supporters in the country. Thanks for that.
