in the 17 years ive been going, ive seen bigger scorelines but dont think ive ever seen such a one sided affair and us trample over somebody like that for 90 minutes.... it could have been 12-1 and thats with little exaggeration , we had 3 or 4 players queing up to shoot and after the last 2 years it a sheer joy to watch, not sure if millwall where just awful or us just brilliant, probably a bit of both.. looks like it could be a great season ahead judging on the last 2 games.
3-0 away to West Brom in the prem was the last time I remember us pulling someone's pants down with such ruthless efficiency
Great escape season, Hartlepool, 4-0 at half time. In my mind that is the standard of football we played. Perhaps the passage of time sugar coated that memory. Still, it was bloody brilliant.
Oxford 4-2 in the bottom division at the KC. We completely battered them and that was a top of the table clash. They went off the rails after that. Danny Allsopp & Ben Burgess were unstoppable.
Bearing in mind the difference in status of the two clubs and despite conceding a couple of soft goals, I think losing 4-3 to Man Utd at Old Trafford was one of the best City performances I've seen. We were rampant for much of that game and Ronaldo on the counter attack was the only reason they had a sniff (from memory). There aren't many games where you feel surprisingly content after losing.
Im pretty sure Ronaldo didnt play mate. Mendy came on and ran Evra ragged. I was surrounded by squealing Man U fans all begging for the whistle.
I also forgot Tranmere losing 6-1 at the KC, with Elliott knocking out both their keepers before half time and ex City player, Whitmore going in goal. The first half wasn't as good as yesterdays with it only being 2-1 to City, but with Theo's half arsed, comical goalkeeping, and him just waving at the crowd when he was supposed to be concentrating on the match, we battered them 4-0 in the second 45 minutes.
all good games, personally dont think any of them where anywhere near the complete dominance of yesterday... 4-1 unbelievably flattering, 8 or 9 would have been flattering..
If it had of been 10-0 at half time, Milwall could have had very few complaints. I haven't seen us dominate a team like that in this division. 26 shots on target, 26 shots? FFS, under Barmby or Pearson it would have taken 6-8 games to have 26 shots on target. A lot of the shots were bloody good goal scoring opportunity shots - I think Maik Taylor was their MOM, he prevented them from a pasting.
I thought Taylor was awful. He seemed to palm everything which looped up in the air and nearly crept in everytime. He got incredibly lucky not to conceed more goals. Henderson was their best player- if there could be one as they were bloody average.
Stockport 7-1 at BP circa 1983 I think - not sure what the HT score was - I think it was 5-0. Not seen a first half demolition of a side in the second tier though in my time..
Brown 2, McGinty 2, and was that the match when Beardsley was their captain and we replaced the run out music with the Star Wars theme? It was Elliott 1 and Facey 1 with the keepers wasn't it? I seem to remember sympathising with one of them on the grounds that there weren't many people would get back up after Facey landed on them.
Bolton was better simply because Bolton are fresh out of the PL and have many quality players. 3-1 was the least City deserved that day. Agreed. Even SAF said after the game he almost blew it by throwing on all his big guns @ 4-1 when he wanted 10. 10 mins more and City would have made it 4-4. imo. Yes he did and got 2. Put them 1 up in no time. Ronaldo was the difference in the end. Correct. Andy Flounders hat-rick hero. That was the seasion i had a seated pass in the best stand near the directors box. Hated it as i was a Bunkers Hill man and boy.
