Home » Football News » Premier League » QPR Captain Also Snubs John Terry Date: 16th September 2012 at 3:20 am Written by Brad Pinard | Comments (0)As expected, Anton Ferdinand refused to shake the hand of John Terry before the Queens Park Rangers â Chelsea game on Saturday but Rangers captain Ji-sung Park was also in on the circus performance the Daily Mail report. A heated exchange, or lack of exchange, pre match saw John Terry, who was found innocent of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand in court late last season, snubbed by Ferdinand but also by Park when the captains met in the centre circle. Terry, seemed unworried by anything that happened in the pre match handshake department, was clearly surprised when QPRâs new signing from Manchester United and newly appointed captain refused to acknowledge him in the captains meeting for the toss. Ferdinand also refused to shake the hand of Ashley Cole, who gave evidence in the court case supporting his team mate Terry and the Football Association are still looking into the incident from 2011 in a debacle that seems to be dragging on for a needless amount of time and the 0-0 draw at Loftus Road yesterday has gone no way to putting the incident to bed.
good on park supporting his team mate..so he should as captain can we get rid of the circus now......time for everyone to move on
Just spotted that as Cole/Ferdinand refuse each others hands, Cole turns his head and spits instead at 00:15 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19611669 Everyone knows he is an arrogant twat (I am a CFC fan as well) but that is taking it too far again. He could have taken the moral high ground, but as he doesn't know what that is he has to stoop even lower than he usually does.
This seemed ignored by virtually all the press, IMO its a bigger story than Ferdinand not doing it. Park wasnt even here when it happened and Id be interested to know what the Korean press are saying about it.
The Korean press are saying "존 테리의 엄마가 도둑입니다"
I've lost a lot of respect for Park over this. This was absolutely nothing to do with him. He shouldn't have gotten involved.
Then maybe you should go and spend even more time on the Chelsea board Swords as you seem to have no respect for increasingly more of our players. Who next ? Granero? Zamora ? Cisse ? You'll be singing 'The Blue Flag' soon
It can be summed up in one sentence: Lead by example. Our Captain should have stuck to protocol and carried out his duties the way he was supposed to. Remember, Park is QPR's Captain, not Anton Ferdinand's. If you think it was so great, him not shaking Terry's hand, why not get on the backs of the rest of our players for not snubbing him as well? The best team building that could have been done was by Ferdinand saying "Look lads, the spat I had with Terry is over. Lets concentrate on QPR from now on. Its done." Lads, if you can't see that this whole saga has gone beyond farce then I don't know where we are heading.
I've found myself warming to him today, played well and mugged Terry off TWICE, if only he'd have put away that header! Perfect. ______________________________________________ You do show up your lack of QPR credentials sometimes Swords!
Why shouldn't he? He's making a statement about the problem of racism in football, obviously. He's experienced it himself.
Cisse said yesterday that there's none in English football. I think he's wrong to make a blanket statement like that but I do believe that we're far better than most of the other leagues across the World.
It's a big statement for the skipper of one side to blank the skipper of the other during the introductions stage. There will always be a reason for it. Whilst we can and probably will speculate over the reasons for it, we can hardly make judgements until we know precisely what those reasons were. In terms of speculation, I hope Yappy's right in what he suggests above. It's both plausible and highlights the possible moral principles involved. Having said that, imagine being frosted by ice-man Park! Brrrr!! Swords. As Northolt points out, you're in a hole. Stop digging.
