Just as effective would be if it was met with absolute crystal clear silence as soon as its started. Everytime.

The more times it's heard by millions on TV the more pressure on United having to actually explain themselves.

It would also highlight a lack of "retaliation" if nothing else but their chant could be heard with a deafening silence following it.

I agree that would be the best way. However in the heat of the moment I'm not sure that you can ensure that it would happen.

The mentality of a Man United fan is ''They did it first, so its okay for our fans to do it'' even though they were asked nicely to do it by their manager. However there will be a lot of whinging next week if they kick off, and if a section of Liverpool fans respond by giving it back. Sorry they can't have it both ways. I reckon the only way it will stop is if one side decides to stop. Everything has to stop.
The ''We did it without killing anyone''
    The ''Murderers''
And the ''Always the victims, its never your fault'' chants will have to stop before Liverpool fans stop singing ''Who's that dying on the runway''.

True but it would still work to both clubs advantage. If a minority of Utd fans sing their bile. The rest of the united fans stay silent. The majority of LFC fans meet it with silence & you'll soon identify the minority of OUR fans all too ready to sing their own bile. Our club will find it easier to single "our lot" out & ban them. If United can do the same with theirs great or at worst we all repeat the process at the return fixture & United can identify their lot then.

That way we're not asking anyone to "betray" their own or risk their health by confronting their own scum physically. We're in effect asking all good fans to do absolutely nothing. Let the others actions hang them.

It will take effort of willpower I know but if we can somehow organise (lol I say wee like I'll be at the next game!) just have the club request 15 seconds of silence in response to abusive singing and then a great resounding round of "Liverpool Liverpool Liverpool" afterwards.

I know, I know I'm dreaming. Never going to be that organised.

I'm not generalising, I mentioned small sections, whats done rationally and whats done heat of the moment are two different things. However all Liverpool fans will go out with the sole intention of not singing Munich songs, but if a small section of their fans kick off, in the heat of the moment a small section of Liverpool fans not thinking will taunt back. I'm not suggesting its right, and neither side can take the moral high-ground.

The only way one side can take the moral high-ground is if one side does it, and the other side turns the other cheek.

All the cameras at grounds now but the fans have to police it? The FA should be asking the police to scan the footage, some of which has been put on the internet, of those "fans" singing both Hillsborough and Munch songs, then deducting the club some points, including us. That'd see more fans doing something about it, too.

I'm not seeking any moral high ground. I really do want to see an end to the vile abuse between rival fans. But like all of us I'm at a true loss to know how it can be achieved.

Every team has a minority of idiots (despite what SKD seems to suggest its simply not true that 'all Liverpool fans go out with the sole intention of not singing Munich songs') with Liverpool and Man Utd they seem intent on aiming their attacks at each other in inappropriate manners.

Just needs positive action by the others, whats that saying that goes along the lines of "evil thrives simply by good men doing nothing". There is no moral high ground, merely an opportunity to crawl out of the moral trough which the minority of fans from both clubs seem to enjoy.

It´s not the first time I´ve heard Man Utd chant about Liverpool when they are not even playing us, seems common place these days...although they will say otherwise.

I see NOF is still being a little ****! Why don't you bend over backwards and shove your head back up your own ares NOF! You're views here are neither needed. wanted or warranted - All you do is antagonise people, scurry off away and stop squatting on the LFC board!

Evening genius. I hope you're going to amaze us with more of your "facts" like Liverpool winning more CL's than United since the Glazer's bought United as you're always good for a laugh.

For God's sake! All you can do is fan the flame of an argument instead of looking towards finding a way to stop the total idiots on both sides who keep this chanting going. If you haven't got a positive proposal then just piss off as you are merely perpetuating the problem!

What gets me, is that they weren't even playing us.... There are very few occasions that we would ever mention the mancs, if we weren't playing them. There was the song "We hate Nottingham Forest, we hate Everton too (they're ****), We hate Man United, but Liverpool we love you..." But apart from that, we would only ever be singing about them if they were there. What level of obsession must you hold to sing about another team, when you are not even playing them.

It's also a bit tragic, that the fans would go out of their way to do the opposite of what their own manager wanted. You'd think that they would at least have respect enough for him. But it was like they couldn't not chew a fruit pastel, they couldn't wait to start. I have to feel sorry for them, that they can't just go and enjoy a game of football, without their obsession eating them away.
