The club did exactly what was needed & condemned it immediately; no ifs or buts. As have decent minded fans. Our club and fans should do the same if & sadly when it next happens within our supporters.

What isn't needed is this deflecting, arguing semantics that this MUST group appear to be doing. That specific chant was born in the aftermath of Hillsborough. It has been used in reference to Hillsborough. Because of this it can't now be "switched" & claimed to be in reference to Suarez affair. If some United fans want to chant about Suarez & LFC don't be fecking lazy & make up some new stuff to sing!

Same with our lot: as soon as words like retaliation & provocation are used in connection to Munich songs we're justifying it.

I agree with that. However if a small section of their lot kick off, its like showing a red rag to a bull. Its obvious a small section of Liverpool fans will kick off with a rendition of ''Who's that dying on the runway'' in response. I'm not suggesting its right. But that section will want to put their tuppence worth in.

Its like when their lot constantly sang ''Murderers'', its what led to the airplane gestures.

Murderers refers to heysel for the record.

Still no need at all for any of it. People died in all 3.

No SK it is not; you are justifying it with out realising it using twisted logic. There is no direct connection between a group on one side deciding to sing murderers that some how "leads" to airplane gestures. "our lot" can be angry at their chant, they can complain about it. They could chant "disgrace" etc back but it doesn't "make" them sink to the same level & create a chant or gesture mocking their dead, that's an active choice and it's a choice that makes them equal scumbags.

I'll keep repeating because it's that important. There is no "self defence" justification in this ever. Our "fans" were not physically attacked, they were verbally abused. We can shout back but be very clear it is our choice WHAT we shout or sing back.

We can't claim a moral high ground if we are prepared to accept any reason at all for similar behaviour. Ever.

IF we get any form of abuse from the United supporters it should be met with the whole of the home support chanting 'justice for the 96' or 'you're scum and you know you are'

What if the abuse has nothing to do with Hillsborough and is to do with your awful form?

Fooked if I know, Kuyts no longer with us. Do you think if we poke Nani hard enough he'll cry for us again. That would make me feel better.

It doesn't matter what it applies to, it shouldn't be sang, neither should the ''We did it without killing anyone'' song either. The player songs in themselves are pretty harmless and should be sang instead. Even the Park Ji Sung song is harmless, we have our own version sang about Dirk Kuyt.
    Dirk Kuyt

This. There will almost certainly be some sick chanting on both sides next weekend. Nothing to do with the clubs or the mentality of the two groups of supporters in general, simply because some people are scum. The only way to stamp it out will be if both sets of fans condemn it unequivocally and name and shame those responsible.

There is no room for arguing that the chants are "in response" to other chants, no right minded fan would ever stoop to that level. If people are chanting, it is because they are ****ing idiots. No ifs or buts.

It has to do with ''In response'' if a small section of the away support kicks off next week, it will put a small section of the home supports back out, and they will hit back. They may not mean it, but there is a difference between the heat of the moment and thinking logically.

Neither side can take the moral high-ground unless it only comes from one side.

What happens if its the Liverpool fans who start chanting about Munich?

I am not suggesting they will but you seem convinced United fans will start and Liverpool fans will retaliate so what if thats not the case.

Man City are trying to 'convince' Uefa that they are showing a willingness to comply with FFP <laugh>

Their apparent 'willingness' comes from them selling a few players, buying some more and attempting to show a trend that their losses are falling....................from £200million <laugh>

Now the bench mark for teams trying to comply should be AC Milan who have genuinely tried to bring outgoing costs and losses down significantly.

City should be punished for the insult to Uefa.

You Utd lads who think that in our first home game since the HIP released the truth and probably with Hillsborough families in attendance are way off track to think our supporters will start singing about the Munich disaster.<doh>

The day is about what happened on wednesday as much as it is a game against Utd.

  17. As I said on the other thread, next weekends game is the perfect opportunity for the authorities to make an example of the small minorities. However, I guarantee the authorities do **** all <ok>

Edit: And I am not aiming that at one set of fans, we both have a 'small minority' <ok>

    #33259
