When has Webber had to yield? He was told to maintain the gap in Silverstone last year in the same way Vettel was in Istanbul in 2009. McLaren did the same thing in Istanbul in 2010 when they told Lewis Jenson wasn't allowed to pass him and then as soon as Button tried it he was told to save fuel, apparently his fuel levels went from fine to critical within a couple of corners. <confused>

He maintained the gap perfectly that day. If the gap was meant to be a collision that is.

However i agree with you, i don't really remember Webber having to concede a place to Vettel, RBR are pretty fair in that respect.

Maybe it's my frail memory again... But I recall Webber having to yield last year... I may have dreamed it though... or maybe it was just towing the line.

He was told to stop attacking Seb as they had full control of 2nd and 3rd. Seb was pretty pissed that RB cost him the victory while having a gap against Alonso so I don't think Seb was in no mood to deal with Webber's BS by trying to get one over him.

The words "Be wise" that came out was evidence enough that he was not going to let him past easily with shot tyres, he still didn't get past even when he did ignore team orders.

Webber is usually great justifying his reasons to ignore team orders but is such a turncoat when Seb was hunting him down at Turkey 09...

However it works out... I'm an advocate of team orders when used properly. I'm just not convinced that McLaren will use them when needed.

No I agree - the only teams to really have implemented team orders were in the shumacher era and the iromy was he very rarely needed it. Nowadays you tend to see strategies that favour a driver rather than a blatant order to yield a position.

    The plot thickens!

    http://www1.skysports.com/formula-1/news/20876/8082846/-McLaren-make-Perez-approach-

I thought it is interesting that there is a supposed Mclaren deal of 45 millon on a 2 year deal with a 1 year option. That would indicate that the finances are competitive and I am shocked that Mclaren would only sign him on such a short term deal given that Jenson's contract would expire at around the same time.

I wonder whether the term is something that has been driven by Lewis to keep his options open for another move to either Red Bull or Ferrari in 2016 to see off his career?

    This may also push Lewis's patience abit aswell;

That is interesting. Whitmarsh said mclaren were not looking for a replacement last week because he was 100% certain Lewis will sign. This may be telling

Unfortunately Sky's source there is the Mail and frankly the word of a goldfish would be more credible

Well, it's certainly generating plenty of column inches in the online and printed rags. I like Sky's use of the word "defect", but is this ridiculous situation good for any of the parties involved during the remainer of this season? Surely, until everything is decided, this wild speculation is only good news for the settled drivers, such as Alonso and Vettel. They must be laughing into their cocoas.

Pleased to say that I've no idea who half of XIX's clients are; there's Lewis, Andy and the Spice/Beckham bunch, but who are the rest???

Yes, I admit I've heard of Annie Lennox. She did the vocals on something that I can't remember now...!

Those were the moves that gave team orders a bad name and resulted in them being banned.

McLaren would be bonkers to not be shopping around for a replacement. Perez wouldn't be a bad signing either.

I take it you don't remember when Fangio's team mate had to come into the pits to hand his over his car. Those were the days and I wouldn't mind a return, but not possible now that everything is so tailor made. I suppose the nearest we've had recently is the one spare car being set up for a particular driver. Formula One is still a team sport, so teams should be allowed to play it that way.
