We thought the passing was good last season, but this stuff is another level. Some of it was unbelievable. Quinn and Aluko linked together with a godlike understanding, and Dudge and Elmo winging it outside them just compounded the bewilderment from Millwall. Oli in the middle breaking up and putting the ball back into the firing line. When they did get past, Chester and Faye just disposessed them time and time again. Decent supporting play from Koren, Bruce, Simpson with Amos playing a watching game with the occasion air pluck to frustate them even more. I'd never be happy that I'd pick the right 3 so just going to dive in with: Quinn Elmo Faye Edited: as I changed my mind. Couldn't leave Elmo out for a great display at both attacking and some decent tracking back.
Brucie said at the beginning of the season he was aware we had a problem scoring goals last season and that it was a priority to sort it out. Based on the last couple of games I think we can say he has. I know we won't score 4 every game but barring bad luck with injuries this is a promotion team. I can't remember us playing this well when we last went up. The last 2 games picking the best 3 players has been really difficult !
The mighty Quinn was tops for me for two lovely assists with Roberto Koren a close second. What balance we have...We are Brucie blessed.
Quinn Simmo Dudgeon Great team performance - I've been watching City since 74/75 season and I honestly can't remember a better 45 minutes than today's 1st half. Looking good for a promotion tilt to me
1) Mark TAYLOR - millwall gk. (OFFICIAL) From the press room 2) KENNY JACKETT (for his tie) 3) Alan Dunne (great tackle on Quinn in 2nd half) Nurse, get my medication quickly please. !!!!! Must give this greater thought.............
Chester Quinn Simpson Hard on Aluko , Koren , Almo , Faye , Oli Best half of football for a long time , we were passing the ball about and creating chances at will , Chester for me because he was getting forward and attacking to great effect and been his usual imperious self in defence
Quinn was brilliant in the first-half, but ****ing shocking in the second. Kept getting caught in possession. I'd give MOTM to Jay Simpson, who just edges Elmo
faye's header was never going to be stopped. certainly no pussy footed side foots as koren, and someone else whom I cant remember did today!
Nor was Simpson's finish. Right in the corner where the keeper has no chance. None of that Fryatt down the middle nonsense with him!
