â¢Liverpool have made their worst start to a season in 50 years. In 1962-63, Bill Shankly's newly-promoted team won their fourth game of the campaign 4-1 against Manchester City and went on to finish eighth. â¢If they lose against Sunderland it will be their worst start to a season since 1903-04 when they lost all four of their opening games. That season they finished 17th in the old Division One and were relegated. â¢The Reds have not failed to win one of their first four league games of a campaign since 1911-12. From the BBC website today. if Liverpool lose tomorrow it will be their worst start for over 100 years for Liverpool. Does this help them as we all know what playing us has meant in the past for struggling strikers or poor team runs? If we have really turned a corner, we must put Liverpool to the sword tomorrow and condemn them to another defeat and heap more misery on their beleaguered manager. I don't dislike Rogers but Liverpool have never shown any mercy to us in the past when we have been struggling and have punished our weaknesses with savage results. This time, I want to see us do exactly that to them and beat them convincingly in front of 45,000 fans and the watching population. Another Fletcher goal fest and 3 valuable points for me.
We all know what happens when people make posts like this. Been a long time since I saw one but sure enough, it's back. I'll return after your game tomorrow, or perhaps Sunday afternoon, to see how this thread ended up
I honestly believe that at the minute we are the better team. Fully expecting 3 points with both Fletch & Saha scoring (at least 1 each).
Is that a promise#???????????? The part about returning after our game tomorrow? Sunday would be better for us though. It isn't very long but any respite from your drivel is to be looked forward to.
If AJ is fit, we've got a great chance of beating them. Only thing that worries me is the MOTD pundits are all tipping us to win. I hope we pay our respects on 6 minutes, then go on to stuff them.
I hope you stuff Lolerpoo. We will get soundly beaten on Monday so one team from the North East has to do well!
I hate to see everyone so confident, remember this is Sunderland just when you think things are looking up they go wrong.
Confidence breeds confidence? Unless we believe how do you expect the players to? I know the manager will believe we will win.
I hate to tempt fate,as I work with a number of Liverpool fans,so, I have said to them that I would be happy with a draw! After we beat them,I will have bragging rights for a long time!!!
Just me or have you been clinging on desperately for draws in every one of your games this season? Speak tomorrow chaps.
And you lads have been breathtaking, against far weaker oppo. Well done. We were ****e today, really pissed me off, no invention whatsoever. Only Rose, Catts & Fletch did anything, McLean was ****ing woeful at times. Really disappointed in that, 2 mid-table sides.
We've been embarassingly poor this season Mons, can't see it changing either till we go back to 4-3-3. I just hope we focus on the cups ahead of the league this year. I thought Mignolet was absolutely outstanding yesterday, best player on either side imo. Never really rated him before but yesterday he was sensational imo. Sitting back on 1-0 is never a good tactic as we have found out on far too many occassions, but that isn't really likely to change with MON as your manager.
He was poor Cest, but I think we'll see his best once Johnson is back in the side. Not a critisism of MON, but we do need to have a think about a plan b, Liverpool dominated due to us letting them, Catts was doing a great job breaking them up, but we never tried to get at them, I'm not really sure what role Sess was given but the game passed him by. Colback, who I missed off initial list, shows signs of continuing his improvement, we'll be fielding bids for him in January, I'm certain. AMBAON, As a shot-stopper, the Mig is really up there, and as he's young he'll get better. If he can improve his command & distribution, he could be one of the worlds best, I rate him that highly. Interestingly, I noticed he was dropped by Belgium midweek for Curtois.
Well both he and McClean need a couple of good performances or I'd drop the two of them as we were playing with 9 men yesterday at times. I'm not sure how you didn’t know what Sess role was as he has been playing it for some 18 months now as the support striker. My problem with this remains the same. He isn’t a striker and never will be. His instincts are not to gamble on Fletcher's headers and he just isn’t looking to score enough but rather be the provider. We can’t rely on one man again to score all the goals again this season. Maybe it’s time to play Saha AND Fletcher together and 'rest' Sess?
