When teams get promoted in to the Premier League, you always hear pundits and commentators say "In this league, when you give the opposition a chance they'll take it". That certainly seems to be the case for us, I don't know if it's just bad concentration or bad luck but there's something fundamentally wrong with us, now bare in mind we haven't scored from open play in the league yet this season there is much cause for concern. When we have a good opportunity and we get in the box I hardly even get exited because I know it'll be wasted. And worst of all when you're a team that's struggling, you need your best players to step up and take the ball by the horns, and unfortunately Gerrard and Suarez have gone missing when ever we are playing badly, after such an emotional week you'd expect players to want to chase down everything and be first to everything, there just seems to be a total lack of passion. I hope the second half improves because if we lose this one it is very possible we could have 1 point from 5 games by the end of next week.
Second last on match of the day at this rate, not much quality on show in the first half, been so sloppy from both teams
Get Assaidi on for a good 40 minute spell in for Sterling. We really are relying on Assaidi being an amazing signing to somewhat salvage our season until at least January.
Just seen the penalty appeal again and it's a blatent penalty, definate contact on his knee. Not a dive, not a yellow but ref based his decision on names rather than the reality.
not much mention of Sterling, though. I think he has been so good for us so far, very lively and beating players. Shame no one on the end of his balls (oo er) or helping him out
I think Stevie has a few good years left in him but... Rodgers needs to be strong... bench Gerrard for a game or two... make him get that fire back. Make him want to play instead of his uncaring autopilot play.
Bossed the game? Wtf are you watching... Sunderland are playing ****e, Liverpool are playing ****e. We look completely disorganised in defense and we have no one in the box to get on the end of attacks. We should be hoping for a miracle or a few penalties at this rate.
It was a penalty. There was contact. Apart from that let's see what we can do in the 2nd. Perhaps sahin could make the difference
I'm getting fed up with having a Captain who's only Captain in front of LFCTV. Let him sit in the studio with Didi if that's all he's good for now. And this defence has been doing this for more than this season. Might have "good" stats last year but getting beat 1-0 while dominating & fecking up in defence is still worse than winning 4-3 if it happens all bloody season. Ill calm down soon but yet again I'm seeing the senior players showing no leadership in a young team. Maybe we got rid of the wrong 3 older players eh?
For me what's scary is how commentators and tv stations are able to say something different to what's actually on the screen and people will believe it. There was clear contact yet people are already talking about how bad of a dive that was and that there was absolutely no contact. Baffling stuff.
That's because he was running for the ball. His left leg has to move. The defender put his leg in the way and made contact - clear penalty. Not sure how you can say the yellow was justified? What for, a foul on the defender? No. A dive? No. Complaining? No.
Technically correct Dave but in the real world if you know your card is marked by the refs of your league you don't exaggerate the contact & give them the opportunity to "doubt" something Suarez seems unable to learn. Even if he went a season not doing what all the other strikers do just to get it in the refs heads that he's " changed"!!
Like was said earlier, Suarez does himself and the team no favours. The more he gets booked for stuff like that the more he will be refused pens when real ones occur. It is a vicious circle. Both teams playing sh**e but we could in trouble here.
His left leg doesn't have to move towards the defender. Trying to force the contact, to win the penalty, is for me a yellow. Welbeck earlier was a hell of a lot more clear cut, for being a dive though.
