Why didn't we pay that little bit extra for Buttner, if he can start for United.. Poor business by us, as it wasn't supposed to be too much more money.

the third party was certainly not united, they expressed interest in him well over a month after we did. Infact i thnik the made the offer after we pulled out due to the third party. But whats an extra 500k if it helps to push towards safety?
Not my Understanding . My understanding is that Negotiations went pear shaped becuase of 3rd party interfearence . Read Buttners comments about joining Manu . Manu came in for him about the same time our negotiations hit a snag . IMHO , he wanted to come to us , we wanted him , all was ready , manu got in touch with SOMEONE and he ended up there . can't blame him , but we tried to get him . In response to the poster who said manu got him for a little more that we bid , probably true , but what about his wages ?
