What a glorious day it is up here. Not a cloud in the sky, everyone smiling and happy and the ladies attire, well brimg it on. No kids this weekend so its off for a pint outside of course. Got to make the most of it. Whats everyone else up to?
Just got back. Took the dog with me to see some fields I've permission to metal detect on. Been ploughed and rolled but still a bit lumpy, could do with a few days of rain to flatten them out a bit. Will probably go tomorrow though. Packed lunch, sunshine and digging up crap: can't beat it. Found a WWII .303 bullet case "eyes only" when walking across the field - we detectorists have superhuman visual powers.
I live 20 minutes from a billabong called the Pacific Ocean. The missus and I tend to spend most days down there. http://www.google.com.au/search?q=s...QfK3YGIBA&sqi=2&ved=0CB8QsAQ&biw=1010&bih=479
I don't like beach metal detecting, all you find is modern small change while people stand around staring.
Today I shall be mostly doing a little bit of work, smoking, keeping an eye on the fitba, arsing around on here, opening the vino at 4pm
I don't sit there all day though, I sometimes get up and walk around a bit. Sometimes I actually lie down.
I did a combined cricket and metal detecting thread, it's got photos of some of my best finds: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/133227-England-s-tour-of-Sri-Lanka-2012-Metal-Detecting-Thread I've also had a silver denarius of Antonius Pius, lots of medieval silver coins, a large Tudor buckle, an unusually large crotal bell and a silver and gilt Tudor clothes hook which is now in Epping Forest Museum.
I design and write software for a living and am a speccy **** and am still way more cool than a cricket loving metal detecting anorak wearer. Perhaps we should team up against the train spotters. I loathe those guys.
