Well do tell how it was financially motivated and we'll accept that it was as cringeworthy and commercial as your decision.
I dont like the fact we are playing in red. One day hopefully we will be back in blue. However id rather take red and the investment than have to sell off our assets particularly our ground and go into admin and leave creditors unpaid. Like Leeds did.
You would be surprised by just how many people in this country suffer from peacock phobia. Poppycock maybe.
Whilst Cardiff's owners decision to go red and place a dragon on the badge are doubtless financially motivated, those self righteous lofty assertions made by posters regarding the decision would do well to remember that we're living in an age where football waved goodbye to its soul a long time ago. Revie's decision to ditch the Peacock was as risible as any that has been made in Cardiff's interest becasue it was based on a dark ages mindset based on the premise that having a bird on the badge would lead to poor results. A good reason to call the men in white coats. Whilst the same might be said of the decision to play in red (good luck associations in Malaysia), there is also the fact that it has been shown in scientific studies that playing in red does indeed have an influence on a sporting team's results . I've always dismissed this theory as being somewhat flimsy, but what do I know? Frankly, I would rater see the team play in blue but with massive debts to deal with, a financially motivated decision to play in any other colour should be regarded as a very prudent one...if it works, of course. Revie, I belive I'm right in saying, wanted success on the pitch as well as ridding the badge of colourful feathers. He thought it right that they play in white, to gain a mental advantage. Nothing wrong with that I suppose, but certainly no more noble or wise than VT's decision. Basically, what I'm saying is that most people would do the same. And don't tell me it isn't so.
Disagree, going from Blue to red is selling out. Revie wanted to emulate the great Real Madrid side of the 60's/70's, and the colours of Yorkshire / Leeds are Yellow, blue and White. Thats not saying if we had the choice for a huge cash injection but we had to change our colours that we would not take it. Its a hard one!!!
Let's not sit here and try to pretend that football isn't a totally different proposition since the 50-60's. It's ALL about the money, champions - Man City, how did they get it? They brought twice as many players as everyone else, with money that was given them. They are financially doping the PL. European champions - Chelsea, as above just a bit before. They would be either where around Everton or maybe Leeds without Roman's money. That obviously has a filter effect into the championship fom the PL. Leicester spent big last year, West Ham brought down and importantly kept/added to a Pl quality squad. Southampton spent when they needed to and got to the top of the league because they were running a budget in L1 bigger than most Championship clubs anyway. So Cardiff were saddled with the legacy of previous mismanagement (financially), but on last season were 6th best in the championship on the pitch. We seem to be lucky enough to have owners who are here for the long haul and up to now if they've said it, then it tends to happen. 2 options were presented. Accept the proposed changes to shirt colour etc and watch Mm get the funds to build one of the best squads in the division or Drive the Malaysians put with a hate campain, go bust, rip off a load of local and national businesses including the tax man. We've had a few Swans on here talking about the honest legal route of admin. Its BOLLOCKS! Sending a company into admin or liquidation is basically stealing other peoples money. If Leeds had been presented with the same choices when they were top 4/5 PL would you have kept the shirts and taken the journey to L1? If your answer is yes then fair play, but you watch your team play in a different colour shirt every other week anyway, I'm a ST holder and tbh against Wolves I was still waiting for the blue team to run out of the tunnel. It is strange, we'll get used to it, I wish we were still in blue but I really looking forward to watch Bellers, Noone, Maynard, Mutch and co this afternoon.
Taking the admin route should be the last route. No ex admin club are in any position to criticise our club. Leeds more or less sold everything off and still left creditors unpaid.
Leeds changed their colour for one man's whim and got nothing for it. We changed our colours for one man's whim...... .... and £100M. I know who got the best deal! Leeds gave their herritage away. Leeds better hope no big money man comes in for them. Warnock has proposed pink and stripes with polka dots for his cash.
Both clubs had the misfortune of having Peter Ridsdale. Leeds ended up in admin. Weve ended up playing in red!
Played in red Newcastle 4-1 Huddersfield 1-0 Wolves 3-1 Played in blue Brighton 0-0 (yes...no?) Bristol City 2-4 Red is king at the mo!
Got nothing for it? Gave heritage away? We built a heritage on that one man's whim. Became the most admired footballing team in Europe. Became the most feared too. Cardiff don't yet have a heritage but seem keen to piss away their £100m. When you have actually done something worth crowing about over a good couple of decades, and then returned later and won the top title again and been feared as a great team once more, come back lad.
No Veronica today, I wondered before this whether Malky signed him too early, and with the late rush of new players whether he would still sign him!
Now that was a good win against a good Leeds side! hanging on a bit , but what of Kim? the run in red continues!
