Gazidis has stated that Wenger will be offered a new contract. He is reportedly on 7m a year at present, which equates to roughly ~140k/wk. He is Arsenals highest paid employee by a long way. "Wengerâs contract lasts until the end of next season but, with 2014 regarded as pivotal in the clubâs future due to the renegotiation of major commercial partnerships, Gazidis outlined the boardâs hope that the 62 year-old would continue in the long term. If Wenger was to agree a new contract, it would almost certainly commit him to more than 20 consecutive years at Arsenal. âItâs not a sense of sentimentalism, not a reward for services, itâs a belief that we have an incredible manager who loves this club and is the best man to lead us forward,â Gazidis said. âWeâre really confident about the direction that the club is heading. I feel he can keep going for a long time. Heâs in fantastic shape and heâs as driven as heâs ever been and excited as ever."" Read more here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...y-days-back-to-Arsenal-says-Ivan-Gazidis.html Should Wenger be given a new contract? Is he value for money? He is *THE* big name at Arsenal at present, and having him committed to the driving seat when the contracts are renewed would surely increase their value? The next couple of seasons are hugely pivotal for Arsenal. They MUST maintain Top4 to derive maximum income from the new deals, and those deals, in combination with the implementation of FFP, could propel the club into an era of great success. What thinks ye?
Well, obviously you are going to have a difference of opinion between the optimists and pessimists. Also probably a different opinion between the younger and older fans. I want him to stay. I'd hate to end up in the same boat as Liverpool or Tottenham, changing managers every other year and still not getting CL football. I firmly believe that Wenger is the best man to keep us challenging the cash rich clubs.
Wenger: "I've shown my commitment but at the moment I'm not in the mood to think about the long-term future," Wenger said. "I'm an Arsenal man. Two years is a long time in my job."
i say just wait for his current contract to finish. if we start really challenging for the title and actually win something, I would ask him to sign a further extension to keep him on for longer. I'm sure he would be open to, as he's not like a player that would just leave once his contract is over. however, if we don't really improve, then I think it's time for both parties to move on, and we should get someone in to continue the work he started, but perhaps with slightly different ideas to keep the club moving forwards.
Agree with that. Wenger will be true to his word and see out his contract, so there is no hurry. We need to see how this new team develop and how far they can go.
Quote on that? Genuinely interested. Please exclude articles with only "reportedly", "it is thought that...", "we understand that... "it is believed that..", "our sources are saying that...". TY.

That's it? I'm surprised how people are skeptic about this stuff, but then when it helps them make a point they'll just eat it up even from information that spread through ****ty blogs. Not like it doesn't makes sense to pay Wenger whatever it takes, but... come on stop spreading unconfirmed rumors.
Wait and see what the next two years brings and then make an assessment. One thing that is certain, is that if Wenger does go, then we'd have a massive job to find a better replacement
No offence to Wenger (only Gazidis), but in the same month we have players complaining about not being offered new contracts, we offer Wenger a new one, when he still has 2 years to run on his current deal. Smart business there Kojak.
I don't think that anyone here will be too surprised that I think we will be in dire straits when Wenger leaves. I don't think any manager will have significantly more to spend than he does, and every year he has been in charge Arsenal have done better than their place on the financial league table. I know most people here believe that the amount you spend on players is directly related to how well you do in the league, so I expect most people here are in favour of Wenger being given a new contract.
There's a long list of clubs who have experienced success or at least stability under one manager only to force him out as the fans expectations become unrealistic and then see relegation or double relegation follow. Arsene Wenger is exactly the right man for Arsenal and the club will be in a poorer position without him. He should extend beyond his current deal for as long as he feels comfortable with then be tasked with finding his successor before moving to a role upstairs. Not a view that will be shared by everyone of course.... The evening standard carried an interesting comparison between our income generated from commercial business to Man Utds - when our deals are re-negotiated and commence (2014) our income could increase massively.
If the current board stay as they are, it's pointless replacing Wenger. I doubt anyone can do the job he has under the current structure. But if things change, then I would not be against bringing in a new young manager. Pep Guardiola, would then be my choice.
I think regardless of what WE think Wenger will stay. And this is not the board's decision either. Wenger is the perfect manager for Kroenke with his American model of the "Arsenal franchise" where the sport is an entertainment that brings revenue. Wenger does just that. Entertains with his football and brings money. Even if we find ourselves in the middle of the table for a couple of seasons, it is not a problem for Kroenke. Look at his other teams. And remember what he said a year ago after our abysmal start of the season. So even if we drop out of top 4 it will be Wenger's decision to leave, not the owner's and definitely not the board's. Just read closely what Wenger said about his contract after Gazidis virtually put it on the table. Wenger essentially said "I will decide if I stay or go, not Gazidis, and not the board. I will think about it when the time comes and it will be MY decision". Quite an ego But it reflects the situation.
I agree with you except that when Wenger retires i think he should leave the club.Any new manager would end up thinking AW was always looking over his shoulder
If we ever had AVB at Arsenal, that would be a sign of how far we had fallen. As for AVB being at Spurs, that just shows where they are in comparison to us
