Hull gets bad rap from the cluless but is by no means the worst place in this country. Its nearer the top than the bottom. Great performance by Luke on the Lottery last night.
Calling our city a town is a sure giveaway he is a rugby league fan. Doesn't the name of our football club give a clue?
For me, referring to it as 'a town' sums up some of the worst points about the Hull psyche and only encourages the rest of the country to think of us as a small backwater.
It is a small backwater. It's at the arse end of nowhere and, whilst I've seen worse places, it's not exactly Sandbanks.
Really?? I would think most people not from Hull wouldn't give two tits about whether Hull is a town or a city and probably only associate Hull with 1) Hull City 2) the Humber Bridge 3) Luke Campbell - Olympic Champion and proud to come from Hull. EDIT 4) Oh, and those non Hullensians may also associate Hull with the small backwater psyche of some Hullensians who continually carp on with the chip on the shoulder syndrome about Hull being a town or city. Why not celebrate being from Hull (town or city or whatever) instead of only ever seeing the smaller picture?
If we didn't have the North/South divide, with those darn Sarf hating anything above the Humber. I don't think that we would have the inferiority complex that we do. Have you noticed that Middlesbrough don't have an inferiority complex, and they are further north than we are?
I didnt see or hear him but if he called Hull a town so what loads of people from Hull do all the time. When I go shopping I pop into town and the the same for whan I go for a night on the piss infact I dont think Ive ever heard anyone saying they are going to the city and mean going into Hull
