http://thechriswhitingshow.wordpress.com/2012/08/28/2012-football-rivalry-census-results/ A census has been compiled on clubs' top three rivals. Outside the London club thing; we are now Liverpool and City's third most hated rival above Arsenal. Neutrals hate Liverpool and leeds behind United most. 'Boutique clubs' such as QPR are starting to be hated by neutrals but not London rivals. Within the London Prem demograph, Spurs now hate us more than the Hammers but the Hammers still hate spuds more. Not surprising. Arsenal 1.Spurs 2.Chelsea 3.United Chelsea 1.Spurs 2.Arsenal 3. United Spurs 1. Arsenal 2.Chelsea 3.West Ham West Ham 1. Millwall 2.Spurs 3.Arsenal/Chelsea Fulham 1.QPR 2.Chelsea 3. Brentford QPR 1. Chelsea 2.Fulham 3.QPR/Stoke
Don't agree with ours. In 3rd I'd have Liverpool or West Ham. United aren't a rival. A team that we hate? Yes but not a rival
A survey of "over 1,200 football fans", where do you find these two bob sites, LF? I think I'd agree with the order for Spurs' though.
This varies with the generations. If you've been with Chelsea as long as I have, Leeds would definitely be top! As for Spurs--I cant see it! They've always been very generous to us, pointswise, over the years!
Interesting that Fulham fans hate Rangers more than Chelsea now. is that true? I remember you guys bringing one of the largest away followings I've ever seen at the Bridge one Boxing Day in the mid 70s when you had Best and co... 10k plus in a crowd of 55k
I'm a baby I hate Leeds not for games in the 70s, but due to their thuggery and bonehead players i.e Bowyer, Woodgate, Mills and just the fact the city is/was supremely racist (generally speaking).
no its always chelsea first with proper ffc fans, funny you say about the 76 boxing day game, i have just posted about thaat game with a touch of irony, those were the days that you walked up and paid on the gate, the good old days, we walked up to pay on the gate and it was sold out, there were loads of people being turned away, my dad exaggerated and said to me there could of been 100,000 at this game, all iremember is walking up and getting turned away, a very sad boxing day indeed, i was only 9 but i remember it so well, we lost as usual 2-0
I was only 5 but got into the ground with my folks an hour before kick off. It was my fourth or fifth game.
I'm suprised you have Spurs as 1st,i would have thought it would be Arsenal seeing as you and them Have been battling each other for a top 4 place for a good few years, why Spurs?.
Leeds are renowned for it. As for Chelsea, we had a fair few black fans from the 1st generation of skinheads (which weren't racist). 60s Chelsea, probably kids of immigrant families that have moved there. Even now you go to Leeds and you probably wouldn't see a black or asian face.
