For me this brilliant post on LFW sums up how I feel about the current situation Posted by Stansleftfoot "For me somehow Warnock and Amit Bhattia coalesced to save QPR and even in the chaos of our promotion still were able to make QPR an attractive option for Fernandes and his cohorts. The residual costs still remain with us. Amit Bhattia's interests in QPR appeared to be with the Clubs relationship with the Community, the youth, the role of a local Football Club as a method of developing potential of the young. I began to feel a sense of pride because Amit Bhattia was running the Club. It would be a great shame if Phillip Beard's and the Fernandes Global Brand building exercise ignored or made Amit Bhattia feel the Club majority shareholders didn't hold the same views as him. I think it's possible but there's no reason why they can't all work together. For me this is the test of TF's skill as a businessman. If Bhattia sells up, it will be merely a statement of TF's cojones, its not better for the Club or for Fernandes. QPR is a small local Club and Bhattia's views about the Club are far closer to mine than a massive Global fixation that TF and PB have. There is a balance. I just hope that by now the commercial complexities and amounts of money involved are such that Amit Bhattia remains at QPR and in a role where he can continue his work to its full benefit to the Club, its Fans, and the local community. QPR are a better, nicer, football club with Bhattia enjoying being involved. Losing Amit Bhattia could be very important in the long term about how we all feel about QPR as a Football Club. I say this as a fan for over 40 years and there's not enough good people in Football ownership and Amit Bhattia in my view has been one of the best. "
Well said mate, very nicely worded. Amit was our best signing last season. He represents all that is good about our club.
The only reason I could see for Mittal/Bhatia wanting to sell up, during the Olympics Mittal did very nicely having donated the Orbit to the Olympics, so he got quiet a bit of press attention. In one interview I saw, apparently Mittal pretty much financed the Indian team. Also Amit was very vocal regarding any Indian success, a couple of athletes he has personally financed since a young age. But Mittal wants to continue financing the Indian team, along similar lines as the National Lottery has for UK sports. That doesn't come cheap, especially in a third world country with a very large population and poor infrastructure. While I don't doubt Amit's love for QPR, home is where the heart is and maybe trying to increase India's sporting presence is more of a challenge to them than our humble club?? Purely speculation, but as the entire thread was started based on one egotistical little twats comments on twitter, I guess anything is fair game. But lets just wait and see.
I think your right mate and this was what Eamon was alluding to earlier in the thread. It does seem a big push into the far east because thats where TF wants to be, but what about amit? I'm sure prior TF takeover we setup a soccer school in india and brought a couple of kids over? I maybe wrong about that but either way if your investing you expect some input in how things are run i guess. Either way I hope the mittals dont leave as I think we will be up **** creak if they do.
If the Mittals were to depart I would be desperately sad for our club. But one thing I think we are overlooking is this. Philip Beard. He is the CEO of QPR. Everything he touches turns to gold. This is the man that had worldwide global companies O2 ( Huge ) and AEG ( Even huger ) eating out of the palm of his hand. He left them to join us! Do not underestimate the power this man has. On our team we have the man that transformed the White Elephant that was the Millenium Dome into a globaly recognised arena. It was he that introduced not only pop concerts to the arena but also boxing, tennis, basketball and NHL Ice Hockey among others. It was also he that came up with the idea to get Take That to perform there in a come back series of gigs. Look at them now. He also was the one that bought Michael Jackson to London to perform a series of final concerts. Of course we now know how that ended, but to be able to even achieve that was a fantastic feat. It was also our very own Philip Beard that was in charge of getting the Olympics to London for 2012. ( Does anyone know how that went? ) Of course Mr Beard doesn't have any financial wealth of note. Nor do many compared to the Mittals. But he does get things done, and he succeeds in what he does. He is also able to bring people to the party as anyone and everyone wants to be on board with this man. With Mr Beard at our helm, we cannot not be successful.
Cheers 9s - that's compellingly reassuring. Don't know how he squeezes that all into a CV. He does need a new stadium to work his magic on though.
bloody hell is this thread still going! I bet the 'bin boy' has now got all the attention he seeks? The club will be fine and PB said on sky just 6 days ago that all was going well and looking forward to the future. I cannot see the Mittals and Amit walking 24hrs after PB said that. I also bet that Amit won't be at the game tomorrow to further the speculation? Right enough of this rubbish lets bring on the 'sneakers'!
People are catching on to the global brand thing now . The horror, the horror ... Supertankers once started take a while to stop regardless who is on board I think Amit is true QPR and a very nice man regardless of money because that's where your fear is born lads ... Wise up
seems to me that the usual poop turners are surfacing again, any time things are going well they get bored and climb from under the toilet bowl rim and spread germs.the funny thing is it's always the same old faces as iv'e been doing some detective work since this surfaced. one question is if they want everyone to fail do they really support the same club that we do? there are a certain few who claim to be close to the high rollers at the club and know all that is going on,when frankly they dont.does anyone seriously think that the main players in the club would tell people these sort of things? i for one do not. it just doesn't make financial sense in the first place and secondly the club is on the up so why pull out now? i personally some have been eating too much pork pie.
Whatever one thinks about the Mittals, their business and of course that unfortunate support for Tony Blair they are rock solid financially. The same cannot be be said for Tony Fernandes who is running a business based on Ryan Air (who in turn were based on South West Airlines) and has truly massive debts. We need Amit to stay. Despite his flash lifestyle he seems decent and what he's tried to achieve the developing world regarding football deserves respect.
If those debts are levered properly it's no problem. Why the **** would you spend your own money if other people will give you theirs to spend? How long have Ryan, Southwest and Easyjet been in business? I would avoid them all like the plague of course..... Agree on Amit, it would be good to keep him involved. But not critical.
