I know it doesnt affect the Humbersiders but Yorkshire are promoted to Division 1............. Glamorgan: 390 & 61-3 (14.2 overs) Kent: 170 & 280 (83.4 overs) Glamorgan beat Kent by 7 wickets
Good. Back where they belong. The Real Madrid of county cricket shouldn't be languishing in the second division anyway.
Great news back where they belong, we are Yorkshire folk, Humberside was political benefit, and I have always said I was from East Yorkshire, and never referred to myself as being from umbersider.
No team ever 'belongs' anywhere in sport. When Leeds one day get back to the PL people will use that cringeworthy line to describe it. Let's not be that gay.
Excellent news, the only team undefeated in the CC too, only have to beat Essex now (likely) and hope Derbyshire lose and the title is ours.
Great stuff from Yorkshire this season- promotion and T20 runners up. With Lancashire relegated it couldn't have got much better. Wonder what Ajmal Shahzad is thinking now.
Yorkshire were the Real Madrid so to speak of county cricket back in the late 60's when they won title after title - trouble is the rest of the first class counties brought in overseas players (sounds familiar) and not until Yorkshire binned the 'had to be born inthe county rule' did they start winning anything again. Nice to see them in the top division again though but we have serious competition these days - Durham for example have only been a first class county for what seems a few years but already they have won successive county championships.
Yorkshire didn't win promotion. Kent threw it away. Personally, I blame Alan Shearer. But the big question is will Sweep or Sue get the exclusive?
Fully deserved promotion for us this year, no county has lost more overs to the weather than Yorkshire, at one point we'd lost 23 of 55 possible days to rain!! We're the only unbeaten County, lots of young talent coming through the system, and doing this without Bresnan for most of the whole season and Bairstow for a fair whack of it too have been on England duty, sadly for Yorks I can see Root or Lyth spending time on England duty next season and Rafiq looks like he can pick up the spinners role when Swann retires, as long as he doesn't go the same way as Rashid appears to have
We do not even need Derbyshire to lose, a draw for them and a win for us would do it. Essex have already lost a wicket today, looking good for our part. Rashid will be back, he is still young, it is only a year ago that he was in the team that won the Big Bash (Aussie T20 comp). CC is a bit random at the moment, possibly because of the short term overseas contracts, so I would not be surprised to see us challenging for Div 1 again next year with a bit of momentum behind us. As previously stated, the international call-ups could be the big problem.
