Not sure if this has anything to do with things given the immense wealth of Mittal but the price of steel has apparently gone through the floor recently due to the global recession.

According to the Sunday Times his wealth has fallen by well over £4bn 2011to 2012. But he still has over £12bn left, so I don't think he needs the £3 he will get for his QPR stake.....

Probably something simple like he's forgotten his password or mislaid his laptop; I expect everything will be alright in the morning. <ok>

He stopped before the rumour broke, the made up rumour could just as easily have been done when he realised he wasnt tweeting.

Hope this isn't a result of some fall out between TF and Amit, about MH. I expect as TF fired Colin and brought in MH, he is still fully behind MH. But is Amit? He always seemed to work well with and support Colin, but is he and the Mittal family fully back MH, and the huge Empire he is building?

If its anything to do with the Management its more likely our slightly crazy transfer policy that's put Bhatia offside.

Seriously, the kind of signings we've been making has never sat easy with some people and this could be what we feared all along.

I think MH has probably made some very good signings in Cisse, Granero, Diakite, M'bia, Cesar, and Hoillet, probably only one major error in Green (and one error ought to be forgivable), but the missing CB's and another goal scorer are my main concerns. But it's very early days yet for many of these players so I'd be surprised if the transfers alone are a big problem. If MH is the cause of any rift, surely it's our style of play, lack of improvement in results, and the huge back room team he is building that are the problem.

You're probably missing what I'm trying to say Ozzie. Its not so much the quality of the signings per se, its the policy of signing over 30, big names on huge wages at a small Club like ours that makes people nervy. You know, instead of building for the future.

And yes, his huge back-room team is a part of that.

The huge back room staffs yearly wages probably don't even = 1% of the playing staffs weekly wages, so I can't see that being an issue and is actually a good thing!!

This policy is sanctioned by the board - they have to sign each contract. Either Amit representing his father in law's minority shareholding was involved - in which case no problem, or he wasn't, because his family weren't contributing to the deals in any way. In which case no problem. I'm am struggling to understand the concerns on here beyond the fact that Amit is a good bloke and kept the club semi-sane for a year and a half. For which we should be grateful. But as Eamon has so eloquently explained, it really doesn't matter what they decide, unless the decision is to buy Fernandes and his backers out....

Would you not be concerned if the Mittals sell up? After all, they do boast extraordinary wealth. Fernandes alone doesn't have the financial clout to support the Club in its present model. As far as I'm concerned, the Mittals leaving would leave us operating an unsustainable system with outgoings far exceeding income and an owner who's pockets ain't deep enough to keep it going without plunging the Club into further debt.

Honestly not worried Swords. I may be if I could see the books, but as minority shareholders they would be insane to be ploughing more into the club than they can get out of it, unless they see it as a hobby/charity. There is no evidence that the Mittals are putting any of their cash into the club on a day to day basis. I think Mittal bought in ( with loose change for him) as some kind of favor to Ecclestone, and has never been especially interested. He certainly hasn't invested as much in us as he spent on his daughters wedding. Tony on the other hand is full of purpose. The last I read was the club is debt free. All of the player purchases and wages have to be spread out over the whole length of the contracts and set against the PL/Sky money, gate receipts, and merchandising. We might not be in balance on this, but I suspect not far off re running costs, but we need more revenue. As we discussed on another thread, capital spend on training ground and (please!) stadium is a totally different thing and should be looked on like a mortgage and spread out over 25 plus years.

You have to remember that because of Portsmouth etc the PL/FA monitor every clubs financial status very closely, and won't let them trade (eg Birmingham ) if they think it's unsustainable. Mind you, they are incompetent and I could be wrong about everything, which is not unusual.

Cheers Stan, that's made me feel a lot better. I'm probably letting my worries get the better of me. Naively I tend to think in terms of very wealthy owners - good, moderately wealthy owners - not so good. But as you've explained, things ain't as simple as that. Plus the fact that I kind of like Bhatia from what I've seen of him. Seems like a good bloke and it would be a shame to lose him.

    But such is football!

Don't get me wrong I hope they stay, mainly because of Amit. And also the vague chance that Mittal will wake up one day and think....why don't I buy Messi as a present for those lovely QPR fans?
