I think the fact that so many statements were 'altered', especially those that referred to senior level police incompetency, speaks volumes. I'm sorry, but you're not telling me that someone as totalitarian and all seeing as that bitch didn't have an inkling. Those guilty should and must be nailed.

No, I clearly didn't say that; I said the exact opposite. To use an analogy: you don't need to keep looking for a gun to place in her hand. Just point to the knife she was seen holding. Likewise anyone else involved.

As the panel have answered; the only addition to the documentry evidence needed (& outside their remit) would be people called to answer questions based on what they (the panel) have studied, cross referenced & published. That would require a new inquest.

I'm all in favour of everyone still alive being forced to do this. If after that there is (confident there will be) enough evidence of criminal offences then they need to prosecute. BUT; I think the most you'll prove at the government level is deliberate negligence. That they accepted the police story because it suited them: why dig to contradict what you're being told if its what you want? Do you see what I'm getting at?

It was the culture of the entire system (all parties) right up until even 15 years
Ago for the state, and establishment to cover up rather than open up & learn from mistakes made. It still amazes me that no matter how many times it's proven that it only makes it worse to adopt this approach the authorities gut instinct is always to cover up than just admit.

Again; I think a new inquest has to happen & then criminal proceedings after that.

There's an interesting piece on the BBC news website from the guy who wrote what he believed to be a 'fair and balanced' report only to see first-hand McKenzie change it so don't be too hasty in changing yoru opinion of the Scum!

Delete above please: advice to poster: address any further concerns you have with Brussels authorities as that is their remit not anyone in the UK.

Mods by all means delete my post when deleting arses.

I do. What a filthy world we inhabit. At least there are some truly good people out there. Very few are politicians of any hue, however.

It's been an absolute disgrace what the families had to endure all these years. I listened to David Cameron speaking in the Commons on talksport and I have to say that's the first time I've heard him sound genuine about anything.
I hope there are people brought to account over any involvement in the cover up and I'd expect a full front page apology from the dirty rag that is the sun.
    Thoughts with you guys

Taking a break from reading; just caught interview with current SYP CC. An a worrying question has been raised. If the SYP changed statements & lied over Hillsborough what other cases did they do it on. What effect does this have on the credibility of any criminal cases obtained from evidence gathered by those same officers?

He's trying to stonewall and that does not bode well. He even says that Bettison is "a very fine officer".

On Radio 5 Live the SYP CC tried to say that the changes in statements were made both on the advice of lawyers and often by the lawyers. It's no defence as the statements were themselves evidence that the police in particular should have safeguarded!

Finally this has all come out, tbh i do not really care about what the other supporters feel on this particular topic all i care about is that our clubs supporters names have finally been cleared. That those involved can finally begin the closure process this has taken far to long and no amount of apologies is going to give those directly involved their time or their loved ones again.
A line will be drawn when those responsible are held accountable and not a day before. As for the s!n think its time to look at the people who were there at the time blaming a paper is probably not right, tearing a new one for the likes of mac is a far more important issue.
As i know no one directly involved it is not for me to accept or really have an opinion on his apology. What i do hope is that everyone learns from this, LFC fans have tarnished with an undeserving brush for a long time. I hope this is never repeated for anyone or any team again.

The overall gross negligence, incompetence, stupidity and carelessness for human life disgusts me. There are many parties that need to pay for their crimes.
