Well maybe I have a wrong view of the guy, but I have always put his success down to the fact he knows how to get his ideas across to the players and create an attacking team, based on quick creative passing, and the way he coaches the players during the week clearly has a great effect on how the players perform.

How long has wenger been manager there? regardless of which players they sign/leave, they always play in the same manner.

Have never put it down to tactics but the fact he has a plan and executes it to perfection in terms of style, possibly what lets him down is he has no plan b, therefore a lack of tactics, as its his way or no other way, so when they don't get success, they still play great football. but run out of ideas in certain situations.

Yes, I agree also. Wenger strikes me as far too arrogant to accept that he's got it wrong. I'm sure if he weren't so convinced of his own infallibility, he could create plan b, c, d, etc..

I think Wenger tried to bring in a Plan B, via the likes of Bendtner and Chamakh, but then he bottled it with the implementation.

The plan should be simple. Get rid of both!.

But isn't what you're saying a matter in part of least of tactics and great tactical insight. I fear we're going to get into semantics here, but to me Wenger is excellent at tactics and partly for the reasons you mention.

I don't think tactics are simply limited to changes made during a game, and even then Wenger seems to me to get a lot of them right as well, but I'll leave it to Arsenal fans who'll know better than me on that.

He's certainly done us tactically many times over the years, including changes made during a game.

If he thinks the young thickos today are going to remember all that **** throughout 90 mins of every game he's having a laugh, although there is a lot of basic stuff in there, dressed up in Sunday Best imo. Owen makes runs off Shearer...wow, you wouldn't expect that would you! <whistle>

Harry got us out of jail with many times with astute changes and a HT kickup the arse, agreed often correcting his own 1st half mistake, but at least he did. Amazing how quick people forget. The first years of Harry's tenure should not be ignored imo over his self destruct final half year.

I think you need to separate 'tactics' in to their component parts.

The players need to understand their role and can be given info on who they are up against, strengths and weaknesses. They do not need to understand the overall team plan except in very general terms such as play to feet, push up etc.

The manager and his staff are the ones who need to understand the 'plan', for this they need detailed knowledge of each individual player and this is why it will take time for AVB to produce his 'team'. Armed with this the team will play according to who AVB selects without the need for detailed instructions to each individual, apart from play there and watch him etc.

I fear you may be right here, over complicating tactics needs the players to be fully on board. I think years ago Malcom Allison used to confuse the life out of his teams by being too smart (and therefore notso !).

Completely agree. Things are never as black and white as people make out. (Unless you're talking about an old black and white film I suppose, and then those films had lots of shades of grey!)

This is a giant sack of pathetic excuses for a team playing sheite football and struggling. Comparing it to other teams does not change the fact btw <ok> SPuds are fkn awful

Perhaps this is the kind of simpleton AVB needs to get his ideas accross to his players!
