Not "all" Al. There are a large number of reasonable people within both sets of supporters, including my best mate, who supports united.

That is very true but both sides have a small minority who are morons and will be at the game.

That will always be the case mate, but they could be shown up for what they are by just the sort of gesture that UIR refers to <ok>

Thats the sort of atitude that ensure that no acknowledgement is made. Did you know that in 1958, when Manchester United were not able to field a team, Liverpool sent them five players?

No acknowledgement? The overwhelming majorty of United fans are glad the families can have closure over this terrible event but putting a banner up wont make no difference to that.

Yes i knew that Liverpool sent us players so we could fulfill our fixtures after the Munich disaster.

    Nicely googled.

Was it the Liverpool fans who sent those players over? No, it was the club.

The point Alan is making is that there are moronic FANS on both sides who will continue the war regardless of what happens. It would be good if United supporters do do this and at least set the ball rolling in attempting to heal some wounds.

I went to one of the Justice for the 96 gigs earlier this year, obviously not for any love of LFC - because I can't stand it/them, but I saw through my contempt of the club and felt compassion for the victims and families who at the end of the day are just human like me and shouldn't be judged by the team they support.

....... that and the gig had a really good line up :) (that was just to lighten the mood by the way<ok>)

I understand that, a gesture from the Manchester United fans or even the club would be acknowledged by the Liverpool faithful, and would never be forgotten. What you've failed to mention is that a lot, not all of the hatred between the clubs has been stoked up by one Alex Ferguson with some of the comments he's made.

    Yes it has.
In 1986, Ferguson said ''Its my aim to knock Liverpool off their ****ing perch''.
In 1988 he said ''It makes people vomit on how referees are intimidated at Anfield'' oh the irony.
In 2007, He said ''I will drink a glass of wine to AC Milan'

Oh no, he hasn't stoked up the fires. He's not totally to blame, but he has contributed to a lot of hatred that exists between both clubs.
