The match engine does look better. I'm hoping there will be a lot less of balls bouncing off players who stand there looking brain dead. Oh, and a far too common occurrence was defenders slide tackling the ball into their own net. Most of the time it's ridiculous that they're even attempting to slide in that situation. Communication between keeper and defenders needs to improve. Oh, and while I'm ranting, there's no way to instruct your keeper to avoid taking long goal kicks on FM12.
This I found incredibly frustrating, coupled with the fact there is no button to do "quick throw out" to my knowledge?
Yeah there are a few options for keeper distribution, including quick throw and defender collect, which both encourage playing it out from the back. But the game doesn't differentiate between goal kicks and times the keeper has the ball in play. As far as I can figure out, you can choose his distribution when in play, but not from goal kicks. It means I can't play the build-up play I'd like to, and it also means tall midfielders are more important than they should be, because you need them to win the majority of goal kicks.
