After 23 years we finally have the truth. I was 24 years old on that fateful day and remember sitting down to watch the live feed coming from Hillsborough in absolute bewilderment.

It's a memory and a picture that has remained with me to this day. I hold my hand up and admit that the police evidence given at the time, the coroner and media Moguls reporting, held some sway in my thoughts about what happened that day but I have, as I got older, my scepticism made me re-evaluate my position. I feel ashamed that I had ever had any doubts.

As a Sunderland fan, a football fan and above all a father, may I offer my humble thanks to all the effected families for their courageous and dignified campaign to get real justice and the absolute truth for the 96 innocent victims.

Liverpool fans, you are not walking alone today. The football family shares your pain and your relief in equal measure and above all our total support for justice now.

On behalf of Liverpool supporters, I would like to thank all those right minded supporters of other clubs who are expressing their solidarity not with Liverpool supporters but with all those who have been both actively and passively supporting the campaign for justice.

None of us can ever put things right for the families but I trust that today's report and the resulting legal actions will bring them closer to closure.

We stand with you regardless of the colour of our shirts.

    Justice must finally be done.

The police must understand they now stand faced with the combined might over almost every football supporter in this country.

We are with you, we will see justice and a better future.

No denying the truth now but you've all known it for years anyway.

I really hope the scumbags involved in the cover up are prosecuted, jailed and the keys thrown away.

Also, the Sun should be forced to make a grovelling apology about all the horrible lies they printed about the Liverpool fans and have a very heavy fine which should be donated to the charities.

As the op says, today you don't walk alone

I have personally contacted my club and said a minutes silence for the families and friends is needed this weekend.

Let us all show the nation how we stand together.

I advise any other clubs supporters on here to do the same.

Thats a great idea! I was only 8 or 9 when it all happened on TV, even though I didn't fully understand what was going on at the time I still remember it by the reactions on my Dad sat watching in horror.
I'm glad those affected are getting answers, but as said by so many before - It should not have taken this long for the truth to come out and hopefully those found to have intentionally covered up the truth, well they should be held publicly and legally to account.

All the best to the families and folk of Liverpool!

From a Saints fan - a very emotional day for the relatives of the 96 supporters who died that day, and for the people of Liverpool in general, and as a fellow football supporter i am so glad the Panel have unearthed the information that they have. Lets hope that proper justice is now conducted in the same dignified way that the Hillsborough Families have conducted themselves over 23 long years.

Sorry yes I realise that but was meaning it brings it sharply back into focus.I can't really express myself clearly. My cousin committed suicide 20 years ago and I don't think about him all the time but it is extremely rare that it goes more than 2 or 3 days till something happens to remind me of him

My first visit to an away game was to Anfield and I will never forget how well even as an away fan (Newcastle) we got on with the home support.Today brings sharply into focus that there is more to life than team rivalry and we should all stand together and demand that justice be brought on each and everyone of the scum who in the face of overwhelming facts, lied to cover their arses! My thoughts are with all the families and friends who have fought so hard to get the true facts of this disgusting cover up known. YNWA

You will definitely get a minutes silence of me on saturday but with a 5.30 kick off an awful lot of lads are going to be well oiled. I do hope football fans everywhere can show some solidarity. One of 96 was the son of some friends of mine.
