So is the only thing missing is whether it was a government cover up? Glad it has all come to light and hopefully bring closure to a lot of families.
That was far more damming than I thought it would be. Some people need to have a good think about their actions. Pushing the blame on those who suffered was disgraceful.
i would be surprised if it ever got to that scenario sadly, although many of us have their suspicions of a governmental cover up,but the Police will probably take the brunt for most of the blame.
Like I said somewhere earlier Bluff, you couldn't have a cover-up at this level without political sanction at the highest level. It just wouldn't happen.
Agreed but just making sure that everything else has come out and everyone is feeling that sense of relief that the truth is out now. Hard to keep up with everything being 5 hours behind.
If Kelvin McKenzie now refuses to retract his lies and smears the Liverpool Supporters Clubs worldwide should sue him for slander and libel in private prosecutions. They might not win but the Truth will follow the **** for the rest of his miserable life.
1331: Nigel Adams MP for Selby & Ainsty hopes the fact that the report cleared the victims of any blame will bring relief to the families. But he says it highlights some "dispicable journalism" which has had a "devastating effect on the families". He calls for a "front page, fulsome apology in tomorrow's Sun newspaper, and from it's proprieter.
I think you're right, the Police will and should take the blame for the what happened at Hillsborough, the cover up is quite another matter, as Cameron calls it, a 'Double Injustice', but is he brave enough to expose his own party if they were directly involved, I'd like to think so.
How heartless are some people to go as far to keep the truth from grieving families for 23 years to keep themselves in a job. Shame on South Yorkshire police, Shame on Thatcher, Shame on The Sun. So much shame to go round, let's hope that the relevant parties get their share!
Agreed, the book, the gavel, the whole thing should be thrown at them. I am a big karma guy and even though it took way too long, your lies will always catch up to you!
Report; if my link doesn't work can someone fix as I'm on my phone. http://www.official-documents.gov.uk/document/hc1213/hc05/0581/0581.pdf
This Hopefully those involved are made to pay for what they did. This is just the beginning. They are the victims...It was never their fault.
It's a bit like Christmas, but with the regret of asking for the wrong presents. We got everything we wished for, but it's heartbreaking that we did. Good on Cameron. Talk was he wouldn't offer a full apology, but talk of it being regretful. Either the tune changed when the report was released, or once again the press is making **** up. I think we have to re-evaluate our stance against the Sun... McKenzie is filth for the headline, but the paper only wrote what the Police were feeding them. I think all that vitriol should have always been directed to Duckenfield and co. It was good to see the guy who wrote the article stand up and be counted in the Documentary the other night, and in hindsight, I feel that the Sun has taken the wrap for one arsehole's actions of spicing up the article with a grabbing but unfounded headline. I think for all these years, the South Yorkshire police should have been the body that was on the receiving end of our fury. I'm not saying the Sun is innocent, as McKenzie's actions are indicative of what still goes on at that rag, but the paper has acted as a lightening conductor for 23 years of **** that should have been directed elsewhere in my opinion. I think those senior policemen should face another trial now, and not be able to hide behind a "human rights" argument to stop the trial looking at all the evidence and not reaching a correct conclusion. Should a murderer be able to hide from the truth because it will impact his human rights? So why the hell did these pigs? I could handle a fabricated story that tried to blame drunkenness and lateness and even forcing of the gates, but it shows a level of pure evil to embellish it with tales of robbing the dead, pissing on the police and using the dead's credit cards at service tills later on. For that, these bastards need to rot in a prison until they die.
If you're listening or watching the Official Panel making their press conference, it is clear that that South Yorkshire Police have lied and covered up all the way to the top. Clearly a criminal act has taken place, new evidence should be sufficient to amount some sort of prosecutions.
It's always been my worry when I see rants of "evil thatcher" "Mckenzie". I'm not saying they aren't in anyway but if you look to blame one individual you run the risk of narrowing the blame & allow the same conditions for a similar tragedy or outrage to happen again simply because the "system" can say: "Look! That person is not in charge anymore". Listening to the panel (I still can't access the report online yet; I'm sure it's under pressure) they saw no evidence of an "active" government level conspiracy but I found it interesting that the panel have emphasised just how much existing (not new) hard evidence there was to cross reference & unequivocally undermine the official story continued through the police, media and inquests that the very fact that the then government & ones that followed just accepted on face value the flawed official reports because it suited them. Instead of searching for a conspiracy in a form that didn't exist we'd be better (at the govt) to keep highlighting that only those with something else to gain would allow that official line to stand while holding the ability to read all this evidence. I don't know whether I put that clearly enough. I'm trying to say that doing nothing to correct the "errors" is as bad as deliberately lying or creating the error in the first place. If the inquiry is quashed and a new one established you would have to say that at the very least many of the police and govt officials that testified originally will fall into two groups. Publicly declared incompetent or negligent: not sure that can be proved criminal. The other group lied to an official enquiry. That does hold a legal repercussion & if THIS government is genuine they will pursue those people as far & hard as they can, no natter what those people's circumstances are today.
