Nobody over 14 should be wearing "colours" anyhow, unless you're all referring to draping a scarf round yer necks, which is of course acceptable.

Balls. If people want to wear a replica shirt that's fine. It's showing support and it makes the fans look like a sea of amber if everyone joins in. If people can't afford a shirt or don't want to wear one for whatever reason that's fine, but you can't criticise people for being childish just because they're showing their support.

If it's a choice of an overly-enthusistic fanboy or a Milwall/West Ham style 'casual' who takes pride in not wearing a shirt. I know which I'd rather have associated with my club.

Depends. I think getting a footballer's name printed on your back beyond the age of 14 is a bit weird.

I've never understood why a grown man would want to dress up as a footballer. Nor why they'd be a walking billboard and wear the name of CashConverters or whichever other company your club has whored its kit out to.

I can understand wanting to wear the club's colours to an extent; that's why club shops sell their own T-shirts, polo shirts and jackets, and there are doubtless a couple of unofficial vendors as well who sell Hull City gear. But the official, polyester replica shirt? A bit sad in my opinion, especially when it's stretched over the beer bellies of married, middle-aged men.

And I don't understand the problem with casuals at all. Just because lads dress smartly doesn't mean they're dickheads.

Might have misunderstood me a bit there. I'm not saying wearing casual stuff is bad - I tried to make it clear that I don't care either way - but people who do so in the context of being a 'casual' rather than a football supporter, and generally to cause trouble are the types I was referring to. I can see what Madhog and JD are saying, and whilst I agree that like you're saying, it's a bit wannabe, but it's showing support and it looks good in the ground. Like J-D, I haven't had players' names since I was about 14 but, I still wear my shirt every game, it's just my little tradition as much as anything else.

Then again, I also can't understand people who wear fancy-dress on a night out, people who wear baseball caps when it's not sunny, people who wear Nike trainers or people who pay £40 for a pair of Hollister or Jack Wills trackies which are made by the same kids who produce the same quality stuff for other companies for a quarter of the price.

So maybe I'm just a miserable bastard.

Can't go wrong with one of those though IMO: http://www.tigerleisure.com/3_For-Him/13_Polo-Shirts/480_Adult-Aries-Polo.html

I had never heard of Hollister until one of their models made the headlines last week for taking the piss out of Koreans.

As for this Jack Willis bloke?

Soz but I haven't the faintest.

When you can buy their jog pants and slippers in Boyes I might be interested, until then they can do one.

As much as I can see where you're coming from, Exodus, I'm pretty much the opposite. I would only ever wear a replica shirt on a match day, or if I was playing football myself, and I would never wear the full kit to the match like some twats do <laugh>

But I would never wear a fashionable shirt with a City badge on it, simply because the badge itself makes it unfashionable. I'm probably talking out of my arse, but as much as I often like the polo shirts etc, it has a hint of chav to it and I'd feel a bit weird wearing it on a non-match day.

To be honest I'd only ever wear a City shirt (as in a genuine replica shirt) on a matchday even if I was at uni. In my eyes wearing then non-stop is a bit odd (unless youre using them as a scruffy t-shirt whilst working); especially if you're a middle aged man.

Agreed. The amount of Jack Wills in Hull now is ridiculous; wannabe posh girls and wannabe cool lads, and this stems to the KC. Get them a City polo shirt or something City related which costs £20 compared to a £40-50 high street thing or tell them to piss off. That's my opinion.

Particularly when there's no Jack Wills store in Hull, as far as I'm aware.

Universitywear(they made that up), it's basically the UK's answer to A&F and Hollister...

I dont wear colours, haven't done for a while. The only exception I made was the grey away shirt in our 1st prem season, dont know why I bought it because it wasn't particularly nice! Must have caught up in the promotion hysteria

Cheers for that. I might get mocked for this but there's some nice stuff on that site.

Not aimed at 40 year olds carrying a bit of extra timber though is it?

It's not cheap, but it is at least decent quality gear, it's very the brand of the moment for kids(now the Superdry is on the slide), so you might find yourself feeling a little old in-store.

Buying it online would be my advice.

Though I don't know what the fit's like, I've never actually bought anything myself.

There is nothing sartorially elegant about grown men wearing club shirts, best leave that to the kids.

City's none shirter minority have been part of our most loyal hardcore support through thick and thin for 30 years you know.

Thats the thing with Hull, still not a lot of menswear to choose from. I hate buying stuff online as like you say you never know how it's going to fit until you try it on.
