My earliest memories (late 60s) are all about 'hating' Nottingham Forest .. Derby andCov were always 'tasty' affairs but not on the same level - indeed we even had a song that was a routine anthem in the kop - "We hate Nottingham Forest We hate Forest too We hate Nottingham Forest (they're ****) and Forest we hate you" .. not very inventive I confess ... but note that no other team is mentioned ... other whimsical ditties were .. "Tip-toe through the Trent end with a razor and a sawn-off shotgun" "My old man said be a Forest Fan - I said *** off, ******** you're a ****" "If I had the wings of an eagle, if I had the **** of a crow, I'd fly over Nottingham Forest and **** on the ******** below" Over recent years the rivalry seems more intense depending what part of Leicester(shire) you come from geographically - seem to be relected in the posters on here.
The Hull/Leeds rivalry isn't really a rivalry outside of Hull, it's actually a Hull/East Yorkshire Whites rivalry. At least it was when it started, there's hardly any East Yorkshire Whites left nowadays.
I was going to say, the number of L**ds shirts in Hull has dropped rather substantially in recent times.
Like OLM says, Hull vs Leeds is hardly observed as a rivalry outside East Yorkshire. In reality, Huddersfield and Sheff Wednesday have more to contest/brag about with us (and vice-versa) than Hull City do. Likewise the Man U hatred of Leeds tends to come from their fans in West/North Yorkshire and Lancashire rather than their nationwide legion of armchair-dwellers, except perhaps some old-school who experienced the championship-chasing games in the 70s and 90s. On the other hand, most Leeds fans from wherever will have some disdain for them, so yes, it is felt more consistently by Leeds, but it's hardly one-way. We have our ways of still winding the arrogant bastards up.
Hated rivals for me will always be Sheffield Wednesday Sheffield United Middlesborough For newer fans no doubt it would be different.. LcFc have never been hated rivals to me. Infact i think NP did a great job at Hull City and I would like both our clubs to go up this season. Loved Peter Taylor for dragging us out of div 4 and div 3.
Yes, because posting on someone else's board means you hate them and feel that you have a burning rivalry with them ...
Derby hate Forest, Forest hate Derby. No-one hates you the same way no-one hates us. Why is everyone so desperate to be hated?
Because it shows that someone cares about them - that in some way they have blasted their mark on the rest of the footballing world.
No I don't mind the red ones .. it's the grey ones; they always get the better of us because we can't see their strip ... the red ones are merely a pale imitation of a fox and therefore loveable in their own way ...
I hate the grey ones - bloody immigrants taking all of our native red squirrel's jobs and women. They should go back to where they came from
Coventry hate us more than anyone. Only about half of our fans even think of them as rivals - I know I don't. Forest and Derby is certainly the hottest rivalry in the East Midlands (mainly because of the similarity between the two cities and the Clough connection), but us against Forest is second, and us against Derby is third. Hull's rivalries in terms of Yorkshire are nowhere. As Exodus suggests, second to winning trophies, being part of a strong rivalry makes you an important part of football history. Sadly, Hull have neither of this things. But you do have that intimidating roar thing.
... and so it begins .... and just in time for Charlie to have got home from school .... where he's been 'teaching'..................... German....
Fortunately, we don't have Poznan's, goal music, and obese drummers. There's nothing historic about that embarrassing bag of ****e.
And there's nothing embarrassing being sponsored by the shop where the local smackheads hawk their stuff for another fix? Orange shirts? And 'mauled by the tigers'? People in glass houses and all that........
What's wrong with orange shirts? If we all had the same coloured shirts, it'd be a bit boring wouldn't it in all fairness. There's only really us, Wolves, Blackpool and Barnet that I know have orange shirts in England.
