By scapegoat I meant someone to blame for Allen leaving.

If a Swans fan said that they had lost respect fro Rodgers after the Allen affair, I would totally understand. What I don't understand is the level of vitriol against him. Even if he did wrong, then we had the last laugh. When he was here most fans wanted him to stay, but now many think he will fail at Liverpool because he's not up to the job. But why would we want a manager like that in the first place? If he's so bad then why weren't the fans making it heard that they wanted him to leave. It seems he only became a 'bad manager' after the Allen incident.

Not asking you to praise the guy if you don't want to, but being angry doesn't really serve any purpose. Life's too short.

That's a throwaway, facile line that I've used myself on occasion but in one sense you're right - there are other things we need to concentrate on, like our own Team.

But this thread is about Rodgers and it's unrealistic to expect Swans fans not to give the guy both barrels. It's like everyday life or in business - if someone turns you over you're angry for a while but you tend not to forget it even when you move on. I've had people backstab me through work 20 years ago so much so it actually changed my life. I eventually got on with it and have actually been pleasant to the individual concerned when I've met him. Doesn't mean I've forgotten or forgiven though. Being a devout anti-theist I don't seek or need god's absolution, you see.

Some fans will obviously need time to move on if at all and you have to respect that. Not everyone is the same. But I'm glad to see that the "Brendan did nothing wrong" faction is down to a membership of one. <laugh>

Valley, you're not on your own I agree with you.

Rogers enjoys taking the credit for other peoples efforts when things are going well, a la Swans. With us all we heard was Rogers vision, Rogers 'plan', Rogers 'philosophy', Rogers 'style'.

The passing style Rogers 'invented' was in place at Swansea years before he arrived. Our style, our way was well established and practiced when Rogers was shafting Watford and failing at Reading. At Swansea he was was simply a custodian of the style that had been developed before him. He simply stood on the shoulders of giants.

For me, the Carroll debacle shows Rogers' ruthless desire to insinuate himself into Liverpool Football Club, by removing anything 'Dalglish'.

He shamed Carroll out of the club by publicly announcing that he had no future with him at Liverpool. The humiliation for Carroll continued when Rogers, banished him to the bench and embarrassed everyone by dragging him on with 10 mins left in a game. A game where Liverpool desperately needed him. Why did he do that?

Carrolls' humiliation began weeks before the close of the transfer window so for Rogers to blame the owners and for him to pretend that he didn't know what was going on in the transfer window is disingenuous at least, political maneuvering or covering your own arse would be a better description.

Rogers had all of the transfer window to sign players yet he failed to sign a suitable replacement for Carroll, Borini's not going to cut it. I feel Rogers' convinced himself that players would flock to him yet they didn't, despite all his shenanigans; a sneaky press report here, leaked contract details there.

Now things are not going well Rogers has already come out via press reports, blaming all and sundry for his failure in the transfer market. In his asides he's blamed an easy target, the unpopular owners. Its the owners fault that he didn't sign anyone of significance other than Allen, during the window; or is it?. It’s the owners fault that he wasn't aware of, or as he's said 'mislead', as to the poor transfer situation.

He hasn't been at Liverpool long but already here's what people are talking about.

1. Rogers is under investigation for destabilising Fulham players.
2. Rogers targeted, embarrassed, humiliated and alienated a player simply, it would appear, because his target was a marque signing of a previous manger.
3. Rogers failed to sign a suitable replacement for the humiliated Carroll, even after destabilising Depsey.
4. Rogers failed to sign Sigurdsson after destabilising him.
5. Rogers leaked contract information re min release fees to destabilise Allen.
6. Rogers openly blamed the owners for his own failings in the transfer window. This will come back to bite his arse.
7. Rogers has managed Liverpool to their worst start for 50 years.
8. Rogers is bullshtng the Kop with throw away lines: 'things will take time'; '3 years before Liverpool can seriously challenge'. 3 years just happens to coincide with his Liverpool contract, hmm!.

We should be talking about Liverpool playing great football, wining games, challenging for titles/cups, as we always have, but unfortunately no one is.

King Kenny has Rogers sussed. His response to Rogers stealing credit for Sterlings bulls*t inclusion in England set up,

Kenny wrote in the Daily Mirror:

“Its funny the amount of people who are jumping on the bandwagon and claiming credit for Raheem Sterlings development now after they’ve worked with him for a couple of months........The people who deserve the credit are the people who worked with him at QPR, Rafa Benetez, who brought him to Liverpool, and the people at the academy at Liverpool.......”

Brendan lives in a bubble. In 'Brendans bubble' all things good are because of him, yet all things bad are somebody else fault.

Liverpool deserve better.

Stumpy - Good write-up. Not looking good unless he turns things around soon. Will be difficult, but not impossible.

I don't like Dalglish but he has a point. But isn't that just typical of Rodgers?

Cracking post Stumpy, think you summed it up very nicely. I have noticed that he is also blaming the refs for results now as well. For the life of me I can't find an interview he did for the swans that blamed the ref. He is deflecting the situation away from himself.

Good stuff, Stumpy and pretty much on the money. Rodgers' time will come soon enough unless he sorts himself and the club out sooner rather than later.

I am waiting to see what the Rogers apologists come back with to the latter, I'm not holding my breath though, probably the usual sh*t* that we should move on. Personally I hope Fulham continue with their action and the FA clamp down on Rogers underhand tactics once and for all. As for the snake himself, stumpy put it quite succinctly and Rogers will become a scattergun , spraying the blame on all and sundry. His time is coming faster than he thinks and when he goes I fervently hope his apologists on here go with him..........

On a personal note gents I would just like to say it's good to see that this thread has not descended into chaos given that some people have strong and conflicting views on this.

I'm not a Rodgers hater, he did a fantastic job at Swansea taking us to the promised land. IMO though the truth is that Swansea will be better off if he fails at Liverpool. He's already taken Allen, and probably cost us Sigurdson. I honestly hope he's never in a position, ie still at Liverpool, to take any more players when the time comes, because we know he would/will.

what has he done wrong????? No so called agreement can ever be implemented. His bosses never agreed and could demand he go for a certain player. I said at the time its rubbish and just words of non significance that cant take place if the player or players in question dont agree with it. No player would agree with such a condition on their contracts and if a big club is interested in them then they have the right to listen. Jinks and Bucks bullshit agreement is worthless.....we would not complain if the boot was on the other foot so why complain when another clubs manager comes in for our players.......If you understand players rights then you should have listened to me as i told you all that no verbal agreement can be forced on the players...I said it was Impossible and i was right....

The people who will show him their displeasure will be fans who don't think the sun don't shine out of his arse. Sorry Superswan but you are completely out of touch with people who attend games, the ones I speak to think he is ****ing two faced ****. And that is putting it nicely.

He did well for us when he was here, but now he's gone it looks like he's trying to asset strip our club, how the hell you think that is ok is beyond me. I hope the twat gets sacked, sorry if you don't agree with that, but I don't give a **** about him, if he goes he can't come in for our players, it's more important that our club retains our assets rather some blarney manager at your second club.

As for when MH (Mark Hughes) leaves, I don't think we give a toss about the manager of qpr, don't know why you are bringing him into this discussion.

If no such agreement can be implemented, then he was wrong to agree to it in the first place. Why make an agreement if you're not going to stick to it? If we're going off the way you're putting it, making a bullsh!t agreement that you're not going to adhere to is wrong

We will find out come November how the majority of fans feel and it will be live on national tv for all to see. Once and for all we will see who's in the minority and hopefully we can then draw a line under it all.

Let's be clear - I've never said that Rodgers did anything legally wrong. But he knew that the agreement was in place for a reason - to protect a smaller club's better players. Whether it was enforceable is neither here nor there. The agreement was there to smooth the way to his departure - nothing wrong with that. But an agreement it certainly was, and he was a party to it.

Furthermore, whilst I accept that the duty of a manager is to his new club not to his old one he was instrumental in 1: Breaching the agreement he'd been a party to just weeks before with the £12.5M bid (nobody can say this wasn't a breach), and when that didn't work, 2: Got his man anyway via the back door by triggering the release clause after unsettling the player. This wasn't a breach, but completely at odds with the spirit of the agreement, and unfortunately this is a pattern he's developed I'm afraid.

Now if anyone thinks that's morally acceptable, then you need to take a long look at yourself. Shrugging shoulders and saying 'that's football' isn't good enough. His actions were underhand and reek of sharp practice, and in my experience people tend not to forget that sort of thing. In our case, the fans and the Board won't, and why should we?

but the problem we have there kangaroo is that Brendan has to answer to his bosses and if they say get that player then He will have no choice... Allen was poached by Kenny while Brendan was still our manager and there was nothing jenkins or Brendan can do about that as Allen i know for a fact wanted to go to Liverpool whether kenny was the manager or not...Its just a quirk of fate that it was our manager who replaced Kenny as it could have been anyone and the outcome would be the same as far as allen is concerned. We are fortunate that it was rodgers who took over because if it was anyone else then probably more of our players would have gone. At least rodgers only took a player that was on his way to liverpool anyway and he has not come in for anyone else which he could have done because he gave his word he wouldn't......If you really think about it then you will find that Brendan has kept his word......However if another club makes a bid for say ash then of course he then can come in and bid for Liverpool as he is keen on him as well......fair play to Brendan he had a verbal agreement with jenkins that he would not come in for our players and as far as it stands today then he has kept his word, you cannot include Allen as that was Kenny baby and Allen was determined to go to Liverpool and what can Brendan do about that....He cant say i dont want you as that would be silly as his bosses wanted him and as allen was adamant then he was not going to let Allen slip through his fingers to someone else....Its so easy to put the Blame on Brendan when if you really look at the facts then he has done nothing wrong....
