In her defence, she won all she could this year - there's only so much a decathlete or heptathlete can do. Having said that, she'd have a stronger case if Chernova had come to the party and actually pushed her a bit, if she'd topped 7,000 points, and if she'd got the world record (which she never will - it's miles away).
No one expects him to support England, if he wants to be anti-English he has every right to do that, but it does mean English people won't like him. Just like people from Hull don't like Warnock much because he's always anti-Hull, or if I played for Leeds and I said all the anti-Leeds stuff that say on here in public, I couldn't expect them to support me. That's all it is with Murray. He's anti-English so many English people won't support him. I still support him when he plays (I don't actually care that much about Tennis but I prefer the relatively local guy to win in any sport) but I can certainly understand why people don't want to support him based on his stance. Like I said in the last post, people don't seem to realise, but there's an incredible bias against big name footballers from everyone in this country, and to a lesser extent rugby union and cricket players seem to attract a lot of crap too, but all other sportsmen are the opposite - people seem to want to like them. Is it something about team sports that people think you're an overpaid primadonna but not if you're an individual athlete?
the thing with footballers is that most fans can identify with the sport and their abilities (or lack of) . It then gives the general public a measuring device to compare "them and Us" - especially when comparing things like wages , cheating , personal life etc etc. Next Football and Rugby are examples of a team sport based around towns and cities which includes rivalries and jealousy with neighbouring teams. Individual sports stars dont suffer these intricacies . The majority of individual events bar maybe golf are beyond the norms of everyday life in sport and so harder to associate with the pole vaulter than the striker - making the sports fan less judgemental . coffee
Farah is Somalian, if it goes to a public vote, he hasn't a prayer. Ennis, Wiggin's or Murray are far more likely.
I'm aware that Wiggins was born in Belgium and I personally won't decide the vote. I'm merely saying that if it comes down to a public vote, then Farah won't win. In my humble opinion.
Farahs family celebrations for the first gold was one of the best , especially when is daughters shoes went flying !! great moment amongst many
Jess' Ennis looks like Zammos girlfriend in Grange Hill , i remember having a bit of a crush back then haaa
Laura Trott gets my vote anyway on the personality front for sure , and for everything else she seems a bit too wild to be considered foxy tho
