Rumors during the transfer window close are typically speculative however Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is a free agent next summer so rumblings are clubs will be tempted to make a nominal offer in January seems to make sense.

We need strikers, even if Giroud comes good we don't have enough depth in the striking department...

    * Podolski looks too good on the wing to move him
    * Theo is unproven upfront
    * Chamakh can't even make the bench

Fans views on Huntelaar are mixed but a 5-6M invest would be a typically canny bit of business for Wenger to be tempted into doing before as a free transfer we'd fail to offer the wages that others can.

He's also been promoted to first choice in the Dutch side ahead of RVP

He got 29 Goals in 32 Games last year (ok its the German league but still that's F'in impressive)

He's good, it worries me how much he moves around though.
He would want to be first choice if he came in, but to be honest he's likely superior to Giroud. He won't have much of a resale value, but Arsenal could pick him up cheap / he could sign a pre-contract with Arsenal in January anyway.

I'd take him on a 3 year deal if he's not too expensive.

I guess it depends on how our season and Schalke's is going come January

If we need the goals we may have to add someone to the team

The problem with a pre-contract to sign in the summer is it'll come down to who offers the highest wages and we'll probably fail with that

If he a Giroud are rotated to fight it out for 1st choice spot it could make both better players and in some games we can try to play both up top

I think he would be worth a punt. But I fear that we'd try and wait until the summer and get him on a free and someone will snap him up in the Jan window.

I just looked up his scoring record and I was mightily impressed. I knew he had scored a few at Ajax but wow...

Even at Milan and Madrid where he was deemed to have 'failed', he scored a few.

Sounds like the poacher we need. Although, I'm all for giving Giroud time and come January we may not even need Huntelaar...

He's a very good striker, quality finisher but ultimately very simular in style to Giroud.

We would have Giroud, Chamakh and Huntelaar all BIG TALL target men - there's not versatility there. I think he would bring us more goals than Giroud but Giroud is more mobile and hardworking.

Dont get me wrong he's a very good player but personally I would prefer we went for Falcao. That would be awesome.

I always see him as a poor man's RVP.
None of the skill but all of the attitude. Just my opinion though.

He a really good player and personally i dont know why he gets the stick he does. Its hardly a crime to fail at Madrid even though he has almost 1 goal every 2 games for them. He looks like they type of player that needs to be loved for him to do really well.

Falcao, we have absolutely no chance of signing him now, the man is a beast goalscorer.

Anyone remember when we where interested in him before he went to Porto? If only we took a chance :(

We'd have to sell our whole squad to be able to afford Falcao. I don't think we could afford Huntelaar's wages either

We should try and get Steven Jovetic. A different type of forward to the ones we have. And a marvellous talent.

Why not?? We're one of the biggest/richest/most prestigious clubs in World Football. (and like you mentioned Wenger showed an interest in him a few years back) We would 'have a chance' if the club where willing to spend the cash.

He would be worth every penny of £25-30 Million IMO.

When going up against the likes of City,Chelsea and co, that price will be doubled.

Considering our record signing is about £17m i'd say its pretty unlikely. Plus the fact other clubs can offer more than double the wages we pay

Falcao would cost in excess of 40Million if Althetico Madrid where to sell him. 25-30 Million would get laughes at by their board.

Yes we are a rich club but that because we dont like Spending and i cant see the board shelling out that much.

No,I dont think so £35 Million to City/PSG, £25-30m for anybody else.

Sure but what I'm saying is we COULD sign him. It's not our standrad practise to spend that much money on a player but we are capable of doing so.

    Falcao? <laugh>

I would literally run through the streets of Peckham in a tutu, twirling and singing 'Touch My Bum' with feather boas around my neck if that happened.

Considering Atletico signed Falcao for 47 million euros, I doubt they let him go for less than that..

Huntelaar reminds me of Darren Bent. He needs to be the best player in the team. He'd probably be a flop at Arsenal.

Now Jovetic is a player we should seriously consider buying.

Falcao is another player that has third party ownership. So it's not going to be simple for any team in this league to sign him.

As would I in purple lederhosen. Wenger would never attempt such a thing as he's against the whole 'BIG money' transfer thing but the point I'm trying to make is that we are capable of doing so.

Obvioulsy we dont have the spending power of City/PSG but we're still a huge club, with real history, a massive support, located in a great city, with a top manager. It bugs me that fans have started talking about us like we're another Everton/Tottenham destined to always be 'mediocre'.

Arsenal are playing it safe but were still capable of 'competing'.
