There's a lot of focus on Mormanism with Mitt Romney running for US President. But how mental is the LDS canon and why would anyone object to it? Well, the book of Mormon is even more laughable than other bits of the New Testament - written in 16thC English in the 19thC. Things that they believe include: The Garden of Eden was in Missouri Jesus Christ visited America Black people are cursed (The Mark of Cain) The skin colour thing is quite a biggy in the States - seriously, they believe that God chose light skinned people and cursed black people with darkness to make them unattractive. Black people were unable to become Mormon priests (until 1978) and Native Americans were told that converting to The Church of JC&LDS would make them become white. I thought the stuff other Christians believed were mental as well
Sounds perfectly plausible to me. God was an adtronaut so he could have dropped off Jesus at Area 51 in his spacecraft in the middle of the fake lunar landing set.
That's not all. Joseph Smith reckoned he was shown to a special place by angels where scriptures were written on golden tablets which he was able to translate into English and he wrote the book of mormon based on these tablets. He then buried them but conveniently forgot where they were. There are over 10 million of these nutters and if things go according to plan the next president of the USA will be one too. The (possible) leader of the free world actually believes in this sh1t. Still, Obama believes in a different bunch of fairy stories so what difference does it really make? Mormon, Muslim, Jew, Christian, Scientologist - all the same bunch of deluded sheep.
Is there a publication where I can read about these interesting theories, and how much might such a thing cost?
Joseph Smith was in court a fair few times, apparently and a judge called him "a pathological liar". There's a book by a professor in the American Psychiatric Press claiming that he suffered from acute mental health problems. Explains all the angels and mentalness
Being a certified crack pot explains how he got round to inventing a religion but how does that explain 10 million other feckwits following his teachings? Faith is a funny thing, the sh1t some people choose to believe in never fails to astound me.
Rangers fans thought Craig Whyte was the Second Coming and even after his dodgy business practices had been exposed by the BBC they still backed him and accused the BBC of being anti-Rangers. Even to this day many of them think that the likes of the BBC, Celtic, the SFA, SPL etc. are out to get them. Never underestimate the stupidity of people when loyalty to a religion/brand/football club is concerned
Joe Smith talked to God through.... .... ... ..his hat He also claimed that Native Americans were displaced Jews
Anyways, we've been through this stuff before. Even the seppos wouldn't put a bloke called Mitt into the White House.
