Morning all, a few showers promised for today, but at present it looks unlikely. :(

Very disappointed with the coverage of the wheelchair marathon on TV yesterday. Whoever decided that showing next to nothing would do was deluded.

Good old BBC. Wait until the closing ceremony before giving the Paralympics any real coverage.

It looks like Deeney has been released from jail today. More in this than the last rumour.. Deeney is posting on twitter.

    Good afternoon all,

Sorry Zen I don't understand your comment on the BBC, the Paraympics have been well covered by the BBC on all of their News Broadcasts and every event has been covered on Radio 5 Live. The rights to television broadcasts was given to Channel 4, unlike the BBC they have fewer resources and having been spoilt by the extensive covereage of the Olympics it made the Channel 4 effort look pale. However I still think they did a reasonable job. I just don't understand why people like to spend their time criticising rather than enjoying and appreciating what they are given.

I would agree with you Charlie, Channel 4 did a reasonable job with what that had available to them. The BBC had all of the rights to cover the Olympics and went into overdrive to cover every event almost full time. Channel 4 relied on an outside TV provider and could only show what was available to them which was a shame on some of the events.

I think the club released a statement after his apology confirming he will stay on their books this season

I have been away a lot and have only been able to dip in and out of the nest for short intervals, after reading all of the postings I realise I did not offer my sympathy on your injury M Frenchie, I hope you are on the mend but have enjoyed reading all of your extra comments your impedement has allowed you time enough to make. I do hope your walls, plants, French lessons and local Chip frying has not fallen into disarray due to you having to put your foot up and forced for medical reasons to imbibe copious amounts of red wine. :emoticon-0175-drunk

I just thought that the BBC would have picked it up, as the nominally national broadcaster. Admittedly I haven't seen much television over the last few weeks and was surprised by the rearranging of the usual guff for the Olympics had magically not happened for the Paralympics. Channel Four having the terrestrial television rights, and then taking their feeds from a third party, for what should have been an extension of the BBC's sporting "Crown Jewels" is demeaning for the competitors when they obviously have to try an awful lot harder than the able bodied athletes to even compete.

I don't know how much the BBC bid for the games (if they even did) or how much Channel 4 beat them by, but I think some of the money spent sending reporters here, there and everywhere or producing more episodes of the detestable Holby City or Waterloo Road would have been better spent on the Paralympics. Or get rid of the endless "reality" cooking programmes with their "celebrity gourmands" completely.

Maybe Zen we have had far more coverage in the UK than elsewhere.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-19544410

There has been lots of criticism in France about the dreadful coverage here of the Paralympics. Only TV Mont Blanc which is regional covered anything live. The main France TV only showed highlights late at night.

The rain is taking the snow but is only 1C here. No new players to welcome, that is good. Bensín is raised in price again.

KA must win the last two football matches this season to be promoted and hope the locals from Ólafsvík lose. We are to play Víkingur Ólafsvík here on Saturday and in the last game we are visiting BÍ in Bolungarvík and the Ólafsvik team play against Víkingur Reykjavík on their own field. BÍare not good but might be relegated and Víkingur R. are in the middle of the division.

Morning all from a bright & sunny & cloudy West West London...another mild morning at 15C when I left bandit country with a lovely crescent moon in the sky..
Major infrastructure failure at work with all call centres and portals down - 1,000's of users cannot get access <yikes> So stress levels are high!

    Thanks for the frothy AK...

Hope the week-end went OK H and you can relax a bit...

Thanks for asking :) (bet you wish you hadn't! lol)

    Afternoon all...what a day!

Plumber returned to fix the tap he was supposed to have repaired two weeks ago. It works BUT the first time we drained the sink the drain pipe leaked all over the cupboard below the sink. The plumber duly returned and surprisingly couldn't understand how that had happened.

Next, John Lewis arrived to collect an Elliptical Trainer we bought from them which does not work. The drivers said it was too heavy for them to carry downstairs and went away again. We should be taking delivery of a replacment on Friday but now there is no space to put it in until JL sort out collecting the old one. Their Customer Services Department say their Delivery Department can't ring me for another 24 hours ("it's the system") by which time I have no doubt there will be no collection slots before Friday. I have sent an email expressing my displeasure to the Managing Director!

I'm hoping such annoyances don't come in threes...England to lose to Ukraine or the beer to run out?

Afternoon all, just coming up to lunch here - this morning has kicked my ass already and didn't make it out of town due to tranport issues. Still, it'll be Independence day here on Saturday, so looking forward to that. Viva los hornets !!! :)
