Great news for Southampton and for Adam Lallana.I'm so happy that he has got his chance after sticking with us for all these years.Well done mate!
Great news. I did suspect Hodgson would be more unbiased towards the so called unfashionable clubs, seeing where he's managed in the past.
I told you he would! Perhaps Roy has been reading my thread on your forum a few weeks back Delighted for the lad- he is better than the overrated Walcott- I think England fans will be pleasantly surprised when he comes on. Raheem Sterling's in the squad as well- another great young winger. England are now spoilt for choice!
Hodgson was interested in signing Lallana when he was Fulham manager and will have known about him for quite some time. He probaly didn't need a whole lot of conviincing other than a confirmation that Lallana could hack it against the best. Hodgson is the sort of manager who gets around and he will be a lot more aware of the talent pool than Capello was. Very best of luck to Adam, I hope he does himself and the club proud and that baby hangs in there another day so he doesn't miss this fantastic opportunity.
he is the same player as the last 4 years. I hope one day England can look past the premiership and pick players that are on form. Ince and Phillips are playing really well but will never be in contention, yet Stirling gets a call because Hodgson still has a hard on for Liverpool. Stirling may have been given a call so he can win his first cap so he will not play for Jamaca. Butland is playing only because there are no other options in the premiership. I´m pretty sure the championship team of the season last year would kick the arse of the England team that played on Friday. It will be tough on Lallana as he may fell that he has to be conservative, yet we all know he is best with a little swagger and when he is putting defenders on thier arses
We also have Foster, but he's retired. I'm surprised no Premiership team bought Robinson, but he's retired too.
Don't get too carried away. On the BBC website a quote from the camp says he is unlikely to play, he's there as cover just incase.
Is this the first thread ever to get over a page long with no raging pessimism? Waiting for someone to point out how he might get injured, or how there are better players England could call upon...nice to see some great news about our captain can actually unite us!
Absolutely delighted for Adam and well deserved Also, I think its a real boost for all our youngsters who will now see that playing well in the Saints first team will get noticed and that they dont have to leave to go to one of the big fashionable teams (and sit on the bench week in week out) to get noticed by the national managers Next should be Sniddersfor France!
Unsurprisingly there's a lot of people on Twitter who don't know who he is! These are mostly fans of top Prem teams (except Man U/C who've already played us) who obviously know little beyond their own club. A lot of suggestions that Nathan Dyer should be included which I can understand the anger at.
Congrats. Although i do wonder if this will be only a rare brief call up. Realistically he won't play tomorrow and once other players get back from injury he will be forgotten again. Nonetheless great news!
