I believe Lallana has been put on standby for the England squad for the game tomorrow to cover for Sturridge and Walcott who both missed training today through illness.
During the England game saturday Steve Corns the saints first team analyst was tweeting Lallanas best friend about how Lallana should be in the squad, and then this morning he tweeted him saying something along the lines of " what were we saying the other day" to which lallanas best friend replied " i cant believe it im so happy. its like roy was reading our tweets" so theres definitely something in it.

Saints are delighted to confirm that Adam Lallana has been drafted into the England squad for tomorrow's game against Ukraine. #saintsfc

Well done Adam, if you get a chance grab it with both hands. <ok>

Absolutely delighted, he has been class and will benefit from any international experience he gets. Great honour for southampton to have their captain play for england as well

Just goes to show that loyalty can pay off. Stuck with us through relegation and two seasons in League 1... now the captain of SFC in the Premiership and a call up to the England squad. Well deserved indeed.

Amazing what just being in the premier league can do for you isn't it? Hard to believe Roy has been convinced on the evidence of three games.

Still, good luck to him, hope he actually gets on the pitch!

Let's hope he gets a chance and can show the English management what he can do!

This is the best bit about this story. There would have been many who would have sniggered at Adam's apparent naivete when he declared that he wanted to repay the club that had given him his professional chance.

The other great bit is that his call up shows that it is possible to play for Saints and your country. Where's the French manager when you want him?!

Crouch made his England debut about two weeks before he left us, if that counts.
