I wonder what his body language was like when he said that last sentence. It's identical to what he said at Spa about it being "great for the team" that Button won.
Yeah, when he brought out out that "guys at the factory line"... Anyway, I think he wants to stay but his 'people' want him to move.
I have noticed that Whitmarsh has started talking about 100% comitment from the driver, almost like he knows Lewis is unsure. Not sure why Mclaren have left it so late, th really don't have decent option after Lewis!
Negotiations started very early this year. That's how this thread started. I do agree that Lewis is their best option; but is Mclaren Lewis'? I'd imagine Mclaren have a replacement all lined up too.
Yeh I know that. Bu Mclaren can't negotiate if they don't have a replacement and they should have had one lined up so they could have forced Lewis's hand one way or another -IMO. You have to have omething to negotiate with.
McLaren would have people beating down there door for a drive... I doubt it'd be a problem filling the seat with someone decent.
This. They were talking about Bottas getting it on Sky earlier, I'd love it if Bottas got it. There are plenty of good drivers out there though, Sutil doesn't have a drive, di Resta, Hulkenberg and Kobayashi wouldn't refuse a move to McLaren. They're not as fast as Hamilton but they'd still leave McLaren with a very good driver line up. Edit: Kubica as well if he could prove his fitness, arguably even better than Hamilton if he can comeback as strong as he was.
I'm sure if you don't have a twitter or a facebook account you will get a drive for McLaren no problem.
I thought it was funny that given all the fuss about Hamilton tweeting telemetry that there was a nice long shot of Button studying a printout in his cockpit during qualifying. Doh!
Even after his excellent win it doesn't look any better! http://www1.skysports.com/formula-1/news/24181/8069333/Press-unconvinced-Hamilton-will-stay And Ron Dennis seemed less than convincing in his interview. Cant rember the exact words but something along the lines of "if he wants to win he has that at Mclaren and its up to Whitmarsh to protect the best interest of the company".
