The lead singer sounds like George Formby, he really does. Has that been said before? I honestly don't know because I don't pay them any attention due to the fact they're ****. Most overrated band ever to walk the earth IMO.
In my humble opinion, the Arctic Monkeys and Ocean Colour Scene are the best two live bands in the last ten years... Gorillaz are a bit different. More so than the Arctics I'd say, who certainly have musical similarity to the late 70s/early 80s punk scene.
Arctic Monkeys were accused of copying The Strokes 'in the beginning'.. everyone seems to get accused of 'copying' these days.. it's too easy and nonsense. As for Oasis, they are quite simply, and rightly huge.. 2.4 million applied to see them at Knebworth (5% of the whole country) and countless current bands sight them as the reason they picked up a guitar. While they're were (and still are) in the papers nearly every day, bottom line is they were huge because Noel Gallagher wrote (and still does) a hell of a lot of brilliant songs. Back to the original question, New Radicals like someone said.. that whole album (they only did the one) is class. I've also been getting into The View quite a bit lately and they have some top tunes in their locker.. although I'm guessing they're only known for Same Jeans?
You can't really knock any band who use Lambretta's in their video's...
Cutting Crew Mainly known for "I Just Died In Your Arms" Also, did quite well with "I've Been in Love Before"
Do you know how they were made...
ROFL .... Great video John ! Reminds me of stalling a bog standard GP 125 going up Sutton bank with fat friend on back and camping gear .... Lambretta.. Made in Italy pushed all over in the UK.. Just got myself another Vespa T5 from mainland scooter centre in Huddersfield and waiting delivery.
I like Arctic Monkey's and Gorillaz. Arctic Monkey's are brilliant live and Gorillaz are slightly different
I love the Arctic Monkeys and Gorillaz too although they were hardly one hit wonders. Ocean Colour Scene are a very underrated band too, one of the forgotten bands of the Britpop era.
Cradock is a seriously underrated guitarist, though fortunately that's not something that was lost on Mr Weller, who's had him play on every album he's made since going solo...
Good luck with that, name any artist you like, they won't be original, their just a product of their influences. If you want something original stop listening to western music!
It was a completely serious post, the Arctic Monkeys are very different to other bands around when they emerged, but remarkably similar to many who are around now.
Alex Turner is nowadays a rarity. His song writing is poetry. Lyrical and comedy genius. I love the way he easily mixes comedy and gritty urban reality in an eclectic mix of indie rock n roll. One of my favorite bands.
