Eddie gives a sense of assurance to the "newcomer" kind of fan, making the public feel that F1 is ok for idiots who cant understand a tenth of what's going on around them. Brundle and Coulthard are obviously the real professionals out of the 4 hosts, giving quick and accurate responses for the more diehard fans like us on qualifying and race day. Eddie just helps relate to the casual fan more by bringing up more "blunt" questions to certain drivers and principles, even if most are laughable. If you had Brundle and Coulthard talking all weekend about (aero, tyres, team orders and why that weave Lewis did was illegal but Vettel's weave wasn't) the casual fan would struggle to keep up and would just get bored, Eddie balances it well IMO and keeps them looking at the TV even if he is acting like a complete plonk, look at the ratings this year compared to last and the year before that, it's obvious the whole package is working well with Eddie involved. Remember the F in F1 stands for "FUN" Sorry I'll shut up now.... Don't be afraid btw, newbie fans don't come to this kind of website so they wont see me calling them "idiots", they are more interested in reading the sun online lol.
I wouldn't want to see EJ sacked, either. I just definitely would not want him in the commentary box. Maybe the comparison to Foghorn Leghorn was unfair (although Jordan does make me cringe sometimes). Why does Jordan never go to China? Berkkamp - it's like SilverArrow says. Back on topic - I think the Brundle/Coulthard partnership will work out fine. It's still early days but there are signs that the occasional hint of anarchy is creeping in with their pre-race bets as to who can get in words or phrases completely unconnected to F1 (like Coulthard's "cunning linguist").
I was dreading it tbh, never liked either driver much, but I found they were far better than I feared, still think they should hire bremner and bird, one could be Murray and the other Hunt, the best duble act in sporting commentating for me.
continuing the dubious theme... you may not know the Groundsman at Lords is one Michael Hunt, YES really. Known to some as Mike Hunt, or even Mick Hunt. What were his parents thinking !!!
Well this is a true story my last name is Walker and when I was born my mother wanted to call me Luke Sky Walker... Sadly it never happened and my father gave the middle name which has passed to the eldest son in the family for ages. I'm not going to bother mentioning the name because you all know the bloody guy...
There was a manager of a household name company which will remain nameless called Richard Soles. You guessed it - on his door was R.Soles.
