If you really don't think there's a difference in saying that kind of thing to a friend compared to an rival then you're the only ******.

A liverpool supporting mate of mine put this as his Facebook status today

I was going to take the piss out of the blind football today.

But as a keen Liverpool season ticket holder, I must admit, it's nice to watch some quality for a change.

The independent panel was so ''Independent'' that it may as well have had Terry Christian, Eamonn Holmes and Mick Hucknall on it. The entire thing was a farce.

Its sort of like the story you sometimes here from people.

"Me and my black mates are always calling each other negrito"

Thats all well and good and yes, I am using a rather more offensive example here but the point remains. Just because you say it to friends doesnt mean that you can say it in anger to someone who is not a friend.

    It wasnt though was it.

This is England. The word 'negrito' isnt part of our language nor is it part of the Dutch language as far as I know. Suarez has had plenty of time in Europe to get used to the different way of life over here to in the Latin countries of South America.

Quite a poorly thought out claim there Swarbs.
What about the time Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer were sent off for fighting each other?

Edit: I notice somebody has already suggested such a scenario and you ignored it, so I won't expect a response.

Just to be clear on some other stuff, Borini would get a yellow for handling it on the line from a Suarez shot, while no player would be sent off for tripping their team mate when clear on goal (and I doubt any player would even do it anyway.)

Of course, a professional foul will not count against you if you do it on a team mate, but violent conduct is violent conduct regardless of who the recipient is. Same with racism.

A player hitting a team mate or a referee is not violent conduct but misconduct.

The fact remains that you'd be sent off regardless of who the target was.

Yeh I was just pointing out what the actual offence was. And it can be a red or yellow card depending on the circumstances.

I am closing this thread and will re-open it when I see fit.

That was I, in which case I apologise my storage was full.

However, you should have re-sent your message and I would have got back to you. With regard to banning these "low lifes," you'll find that if we banned everyone who made a daft or aggressive comment then both of our boards would be severely lacking in members. The point of the banter thread was to stop both fans crossing boards to post stupid articles, in that respect it worked.

    Re-Opening the Thread

This thread is too long to just get rid of, and believe it or not there aren't over 1,000 pages of petty insults. There's a couple of pages of actual football debate, mainly good natured banter about the other team and a whole lot of taking the piss out of teams that we mutually dislike. I want this thread to go back to how it was, no more personal insults of any kind will be tolerated.

Anybody who even attempts to take the course of the conversation to what it was previously will find themselves thrown off of this board, because frankly there were quite a few people who crossed the line today.

From now on, I would like to work more closely with the United Mods, so to them: If you see something, on both sides of the fence that you feel needs moderating then please just tell us and we'll sort it out, because unfortunately we can't all moderate it.

    Banter commence.

Nice one, some of the stuff that had been posted on here earlier was pretty horrible and i imagine it was pretty tempting to take the easy way out and just close the thread.

Thanks for keeping it going, hopefully people can get back to discussing random **** and general banter.

One piece of advice i would offer is that people ignore the posts from Ben Arfa who will no doubt be back under new accounts so best that we dont give him attention.

This will then give the mods an easy job in just deleting his posts when they get a chance to do so.
