well then, according to SSN we are interested in the Greek international and according to Wikipedia he is already with us http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giorgos_Karagounis
An interesting signing if it happens. I wouldn't read too much into the wiki entry - their editors have been known to jump the gun on these things before now. That's not to say it isn't true...
Needs must, I suppose, but so much for lowering the average age of the squad! The guy's precisely 12 days older than Danny Murphy . . . . I know which one I'd rather have.
I know what your saying Fulhamish, and the way things worked out he would certainly have been an asset. However, Danny wanted a 2 year contract (as opposed to the 1 year we offerred) and with the best will in the world he wasn't going to be a regular over that period. Money as always played it's part. As a short term addition Karagounis would be ideal - he's still got loads of energy despite his age. I've only seen him in the Euros but apparently that's exactly how he plays for his club.
According to Greek papers Karagounis has passed his medical and will return to London tomorrow to sign, probably Tuesday - http://www.gazzetta.gr/
Great news, sounds just what we need. Let's hope he settles into the PL quickly. Is he the first Greek to play for us?
"Where's Ara" Petrosian was a Greek Cypriot and plenty have played there (Diarra started out in a side in Crete) but he is indeed the first. With him being a popular International and a lot of Greek folks in town won't do the gates any harm.
Karagounis will be a fine addition. He is experienced and a leader... Similar to Murphy commands the midfield...
Another senior moment, Captain. Thanks - shouldn't have posted while watching the Paralympics, not that I got that name correct either.
