Got half a bottle of Brankott Estate Pinot Noir to finish, bloody love the stuff. Cheaper at £7.50 a bottle at Sainsbury's at the moment. Once finished will have to be a Shiraz.

For tea we're having spicy sausage and butter bean casserole with brocolli and green beans. Shop bought chocolate melt cake thingy for dessert (pudding). Having a Ringwood ale right now, ice cold after an evening on the beach.

New series of The Thick of It starts tonight, quality comedy. (there's a thread for that of course but it does seem dedicated almost entirely to American television)

    Nice boiger?

Was an average burger.. Was at a harvester.. Had two bowls of salad which were no doubt more calorific than the burger..

You're so lucky having the beaches on your doorstep. Very envious.

True, it's a great option to have. Perfect way to spend a sunny evening, shrimping in rockpools.

Aviators on, checking out the jack and danny!

Nice cut of Sirloin this afternoon with veggies (asparagus, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, potatoes) with an amazing red wine gravy and a bottle of South Africa's finest Shiraz <ok>

    Nice.

I hear that we're having a chicken in white wine sauce with linguini. I haven't cooked for ages, my girfriend has turned into bloody Mary Berry, cooking and baking something every day. I used to get my fair crack at it but don't get a sniff anymore. No red wine in the house so might have to be a chenin blanc that I've got in the fridge to go with it.

Was going to be chicken dinner today but the chicken didn't get taken out last night.

Sounds good, love white linguine. I'm more of a white wine man myself tbh but you can't have a steak with it, just wrong. I also planned for Chicken but the steaks were on offer so no brainer!

I think it's a bit bollocks that certain wines must match certain foods.

I agree totally that red wine just goes with a steak, and beef and lamb, but I don't think that you should have white wine just because you're having fish for instance. Have what you want I say!

Well, I've just emptied out and cleaned the below stairs coat cupboard and now a load of toys can live there. Got rid of the contents of the magazine rack and vac'd up.
Think that deserves and ale myself!

Yeah you have a point, but beef with red has a bit of a je ne sais quoi feel to it, just goes together!

Oh yeah, I agree. It does.

But if you fancied white then so what?

If it was Lambrini though, different story!

similar, I'm 27. I hated wine a few years ago but we had nothing in the house before I went out one night so I swigged back a glass and just liked it thereon after. Definitely has an acquired taste in my experience. After a couple years of drinking it, you begin to distinguish nice ones and horrible ones.

    I'm, errrr, older than that.

I got into wine properly in my 30's so maybe it is aquired. I was never anti it, I just liked a pint of lager.

I hardly ever drink a pint of lager now so I think tastes definitely develop.

Yeah definitely, I do like a red but was just saying I am more of a white man if I were drinking it solely.

I was like that with Cider. Now Its all I drink really.

Used to associate it all with the cheap stuff but if I am drinking, which isnt often I tend to drink Cider, usually a fruity variety and more so if its a glorious day.

Speaking of which I am finishing off my bottles of pear strongbow <laugh> Classy.

quite fussy when it comes to cider tbh, can't drink strongbow/woodpecker/bulmers or any of that sort of stuff. Gotta be proper :) I am partial to a Stella Cidre though, they're alright.
