Criticism of De Gea is based on early last season. The second half of the season it could be argued he was the best in the league. Only Hart would have a case against this. Hes the best shot stopper without doubt and thats a very important asset for a keeper. He not very commanding which isnt a good thing for a keeper to be. He kept 13 clean sheets which for a young guy in his first season in the PL and the fact it took him a while to adjust..... he did really really well all in all.
Valencia is the best winger in the league, but wingers are a dying breed. People prefer attack midfielders nowadays, hence why Hazard and Aguero get in there before him on my team IMO. I tried to pick a team that works on the quality of the players, not the individual talent.
My critisism of De gea is not just from last season but from when he was playing in La Liga. He conceded a large number of long range goals and most were due to his awful positional sence.
Thats fair enough. Valencia can play AM quite well tbf but I wouldnt put him as an AM over genuine AM like Kagawa and Silva. If I was playing the AM way but wanted the option of width when needed Nani is the guy to use, imo hes better than Valencia but its an unwinnable debate but my reasons are he offers much more than just wing play.
Name me a young keeper who didnt have problems in some areas. Hes worked on it and I can say quite confidently, its no longer an area of concern. Now corners and free kicks into the box, still a concern but he will work on it.
Got to say that I'm not totally convinced by him but If Fergie paid 18m for him then I suppose he must have something about him. Time will tell.
I have no doubt that he can improve in these areas but right now he is not in the top three best goalkeepers in the Prem. People put him in simply becasue of the club he plays for. If Tim Howard played for united he would be in everyones 25 man squad
He will be a world class keeper, he has the attributes but the main thing to understand is he's nowhere near the finished product right now
Hart Krull Friedel Walker Richards Kaboul Vidic Kompany Collocini Baines Cole Parker Wilshere Dembele Fellaini Mata Bale Toure Arguero Hazard Valencia Rooney Torres Ben Arfa Ba Luiz
You think De Gea is better than Howard? howard was pish at united but he is one of the most solid keepers around now. I'd be much happier having a reliable goalkeeper than someone who cant deal with simple crosses
Hes more experienced and as a keeper experience counts for alot. Is he better? Imo.............no. If he wasnt good enough he wouldnt play for United. The same stuff aimed at him is the same stuff aimed at Iker Casillas in his younger days. My personal opinion and based on the other Spanish keepers is that De Gea will be the spanish number 2 very soon and the number one after the next world cup.
Tim Howard- Hardly makes a mistake these days. De Gea- gets dropped from games as Fergie is afraid that he will mess up from crosses. Which is better, hmmmmm
Wasnt dropped, Fergie plays both and both are good keepers. Unfair to have Anders spend his life on the bench. Give him a chance to prove himself. Fergie has also said he will be back for the next game so does that mean Anders was dropped?
