Call it a knee-jerk reaction to one good game if you want, but we need to get Simpson's contract extended asap.
I'm pretty sure he's now in the last year of his current one (someone will confirm) and that means we either flog him for peanuts in January or lose him for nothing in the summer.

Yesterday he proved (what most of us always suspected) that he has real potential, and at 23 he has bags of time to either improve into a very good player or give us a big profit if he moves on.
Whether he wants to stay after the treatment he got from NP and NB is debatable, but I think SB and the club should try their hardest to keep him.

If he continues to play like yesterday I'm sure they'll try to sort something out before the January window.

OT. Did Chester get the improved contract that NB was insisting he gets?

seeing the way Bruce Snr put and arm round him and was having a laugh together when he subbed him, I think any bad feeling from NP or NB has well and truly gone.

Chester didn't get a new or improved contract - ask Ehab why.

As for Simpson, I think we need to see some consistently good performances from him, and ultimately he needs to score goals on a regular basis - strikers are ultimately judged on their goal tally, here's hoping he can do it.

Surely it makes sense to tie him up to a longterm contract on decent terms if clubs are inevitably after him, Chester that is. Firstly so if we were to sell him we'd get the highest price we could. Or to perrsuade him to stay
    with us on competitive wages.

No rush on Chester(his own words). Steve Bruce will get James Chester sorted before the end of this season there is no doubts about that. With just under 2 years left why the panic over Chester ? Simpson will get a new deal as well IF he keeps this form up. imo.

Chester will stay I think if we are up there in January, and get promoted at the end of the season. If not I fear one of the EPL clubs will come in for him. Simmo as SB said after the game has found someone in Aluko that he likes playing along side, that being the case, hopefully we will see a vastly improving Jay Simpson, as we are starting to see already.

He's already done that, just not for us until now. Looks like he didn't settle at all until Bruce came along. I agree about getting him tied up unless he still doesn't feel happy with us.

If Simpson did get offered a new deal do you think he would sign it or have doubts?? He hasnt had the best time here before Bruce came in. Just wonder if he might wanna move on, back down south or something. I personally would like to see him stay.

I'm a big Simpson fan, but we'll have to see how much game time he gets over the next few months before offering him anything.

Chester is our best player and he's one of our lowest earners. He's PL quality and we can't expect to keep hold of him if bigger clubs come in and offer him a much better deal. If Adam Pearson reckons we needed to get him on a new deal, that's enough to convince me.

I didn't know Chez was on the lowest wages. How did that happen ? He will know he is one of our best players, so surely he will feel a little pissed ? Sounds like dangerous situation for the club,to me. As for Homer i agree, give him a new deal. For some reason(probably Bruce)he looks physically stronger to me,there's far more aggression in his game than before. He'l have a very good season ahead of him.

When Simpson came he had no supply, was unsettled, and playing in a team lacking confidence. Since then he has been sent on loan, played out of position (when actually given games), no wonder he didnt set the place alight (and when he started to he was dropped!!)!!

For strikers, service is key, we now have Koren, Quinn and Aluko giving attacking support. Dudgeon and Elhmandry (god knows how to spell his name!) gives attacking width, so service is plentiful. Cant wait to see him and Fryatt together!!

He's a new player and I'm sure he'll be happy playing for SB.

Like CCH just said - Service is key! And he will surely be content if he is playing and scoring.

I find Elmo works best for the spelling.

I was confused as to why Simpson never actually got the chance Barmby said he was going to give him... Now he looks rejuvenated and as though he has something to prove. He looks sharp, confident, gets in the right places and looks a real goal threat.

Now the problem is though, what about Fryatt when he comes back from his injury? And what does this mean for McLean...

Especially if we do actually end up getting Fraizer Campbell back on loan.

I think Pearson got the wrong guy, we should have got CMS instead.
