Stereo with respects about the crowds, it's £20 a ticket to watch dross. I wouldn't say plastic I would say that people who are in a full blown recession and jobs at risk has better things to spend money on. I know that even if I was given free tickets, travel and a hotel I still wouldn't go , is that wrong ? No I don't think so as its my choice to go or not.
And we get 20,000 and are in a far better position than them, you can have huge crowds but the revenue from that is limited by the fact that you need income from tv and media, they don't have that, to the extent we do.
dunno what planet u r on valley, they are televising rangers games in the 3rd division cos they get 45000
What has crowd size got to do with the standard of the football being played. Celtic play against second rate players week in week out. Players who are at a league 1 standard. That coupled with the falling of Rangers means a legue full of Orients and scunthorpes. ( no disrespect to those teams.) When we have players playing PL football everyweek, Playing against quality players everyweek, then for me he is miles behind them. Lenon admited himself they had to sell to survive, This was after a crtain Mr Ki made his way south and west.
What planet ? Tell you what musty they maybe in that division, and with their crowds they are certainly a big club. But they are a bankrupt club and in a league that is no better than the welsh premier league, meaning amateur clubs. People will soon get bored of watching a club playing teams like that. And by the way they televise these games not because of crowd size but because it's rangers and there contracts, they must be getting 45k watching on tv as well
He was on the bench but not fully fit, so obviously was only there to make up the numbers and had no chance of playing. I agree he's a good player, also Edwards looked quite threatening until the sending off I thought. So we have quite a good pool of central midfielders and its probably an area we don't have to worry about as much as up front and the wings were we have nothing past Bellamy/Bale/Morison. And even then Morison isn't that good.
We have the players we have the venues and we have the fans, what we dont have is good management from right at the top down to the manager. We unlike England accept to easily that a player cant be spared to play for us for all sorts of ridiculous reasons and the next week you see them playing, England dont let teams get away with that as they demand the player turn up and has to go before the England doctor so he can say if he is fit or not......The way we do things is the attitude we are a small country and we accept the clubs reasons and thats it....yes some are genuine but at the same time some are fictitious as the clubs dont want them to play an extra game and want them to rest for their next game.....The players who do play are not motivated enough and go into the game expecting to lose. they dont try their best for fear of injury in a match that they know they are not going to get far in.......Until we learn from the English and demand our players so we can play our best team possible then we will never get anywhere and be seen as the whipping boys of any tournament....we need a complete overall from top to bottom and that starts with the W.F.A down to the manager and coaches and make it known to every club that we will no longer accept their reasons for not letting their player play for wales without very good reasons and confirmation from our own doctors.....
I agree with what you are saying Superswan , but what you'll find probably is that players will retire from international duties then, you can't force them to play if they do that. The problem is the FAW and the way they run things, they have employed the wrong person for our country I am convinced of it, the players do not want to play for him.
I can see what you're both saying and I can't disagree with either. 4 games, 4 defeats and not a single goal scored since we lost Gary Speed. Worrying times indeed
actually valley, players have to play if they are called up, obviously if a player retires from internationals then they are almost always excused but if a coach insists then they have to play, simple as that. dai, under speed, putting tactics to one side the biggest thing he did was create an atmosphere where players wanted to play rather than turning up as if its a chore... he was a very affable character who was on the same wavelength as the players, unlike say, toshack. now i dont know coleman but he comes across as more confrontational, and maybe the players dont like this. there should be no middle ground, either you play every game your fit for wales and give 100% or you dont play. however we are a small nation and we need all the players we can get, which is probably why players are allowed to pull out at their leisure.
Swamp don't be stupid, they don't have to play if they don't want to, they'll just retire from international duties.
i remember makelele being forced to play for france despite declaring international retirement, he had to play and would have been banned from club action had he refused and the manager not backing down..... look it up if you dont believe me.. dempsey is different, thats club football there are set rules for fining and suspending players.....and in fact dempsey himself actually denies refusing to play, but thats a different argument.
England players will crawl across hot coals to play for their country. we have players like giggs and the other 19 players who retired under toshacks rule who could not be bothered about representing their country. that all stems from bad management at the very top as they are the ones who choose the manager and run how wales is portrayed as a football nation.......they are letting everyone down by their inapt management skills....
Rubbish he was persuaded to continue to play for France, it's a player's choice to play internationals, and you are quoting if a club pretends that a player is injured and refuses to let a player go and play for their country. You can't force someone to play if they don't want to, go and have a look at the FIFA rules on this.
you cant make any player play international football, All you can do is select the player and then its down to the player on whether he wants to be considered or not......you cant force anyone to play. Club football is a different cuttle of fish as the player is under contract and must play if selected and fit.....take treves example.....he refused to play for man city but he came back with his tail between his legs in the end as he had his wages stopped and he was not allowed to play football anywhere...
