Interestingly despite the much talked up Merc engine the top 10 through the speed trap were:

So many things that can bugger it all up... and it comes down to one tiny part.

I hope this isn't Alonso's season unraveling, because he's been the driver of the season for me. Probably the best he's ever been IMO.

2002 Schuey probably. 2004 Schumacher couldn't be bothered in the final 3-4 races.

Probably... Not taking a pop at Vettel here, but I think Ferrari would be crazy to pull Vettel in for 2014 if that pans out. Alonso is a country mile of anybody else right now. Don't rock the boat.

In the same way I think Vettel would be nuts for leaving RBR... Who would want to leave Newey? Even if it was for the Scuderia.

 

Especially when we have new regulations coming in 2014, and Newey is the master of new regulations.

 

Sometimes your heart overrules your head. I get the feeling Vettel is a Ferrari nut underneath, probably from the Schumacher days.

 

I guess I should also say that Hamilton would be nuts for leaving McLaren... but I can't help but feel it might help him. Even if it means a couple of seasons in the wilderness..

Stefano wants a number 1 and a number 2 driver at Ferrari, but last time I read recently is that Luca pretty much expressed he wanted (2) highly rated drivers in his cars. So he must mean either Seb or Lewis must be able to come in if Alonso likes it or not.

And yes Seb is a Ferrari nut!

 

That would get be a massive shift for Ferrari and one that might not be too smart. Two #1 at McLaren hurts them IMO.

 

If they want both the WDC+WCC every year like RBR they'll get in Seb or Lewis to partner Alonso. Since Lewis has no real interest in F1 history and Seb had a Red fiat panda? as his first car I think it's safe to know who wants that seat more than anybody.

 

I can see Alonso "tutoring" Vettel for a couple of years to prepare for the handing over of power.

 

Somehow I just got this feeling it would turn out like this after 1 season together!
