I don't mean to embarrass you mate because you know I think you're a sound as a pound.

Scampi is just small bits of chicken

    Think about it.

Maybe I should have sent you a PM.

Can't help any with Hotels as you have booked and as someone said it really depends on how much you are willing to pay. Things to do, well posters have mentioned shows of course. I would recommend a Hop on Hop off (HOHO) bus as one of your early trips. There are several operators and they use old double-decker buses from the UK with the tops cut off. You get to see all the sights and an idea where they are so can return to favorites at your leisure. Another pleasant evening is a dinner cruise. You get to see New York and New Jersey buildings lit up as well as the Statue of Liberty during the cruise. If you want some footy (depending upon when you are going) the NY Red Bulls play across the river in New Jersey. So you would take a PATH train and get off at Harrison Station. The walk from there is about half a mile. If you go on the Red Bulls web site you can buy tickets. The stadium is a custom football (soccer over here) arena built about three years ago.

One of the best restaurants is"one if by land two if by sea" www.oneifbyland.com, as also often promoted by Alan Brazil of TalkSport. The steaks are immense!<bubbly> You will need to book well in advance though.

Rofl, cheers Carmine, another fab laugh out loud moment on these forums. You're right though...it does taste like chicken!

Bearing in mind nothing in the US is the same as here food wise (even Burger King doesn't suck there, in fact, it's like eating a 10 quid burger from the UK), chicken in a basket is a bloody treat I tell ya.

You can't just pitch up and queue at the Statue of Liberty to enter you have to book your slot in advance http://www.statueoflibertytickets.com/

Also get the day (or even longer) tickets for the subway - You can buy them on the same website or in the station

I stay in Manhattan on business about 4 times a year. Strongly recommend Belvedere Hotel, just off 8th Ave on 49th, one block from the Theater district, and very quiet nice rooms. Less expensive than Element too.

Element is in a not so great area a block from the low-life Port Authority bus terminal and a ten block walk from theaters/restaurants etc. Watch yourself if you're not taking a cab. Pretty noisy at night too. Take a look at the Belvedere.

Oh yeah, just remembered a very interesting law - If you are a tourist in New York and you want to "use the bathroom" the top hotels have to let you - I put this to the test in some very grand place just on Central Park me and the Mrs got three paces through the door and were surrounded by at least 6 members of staff each (we were in jeans and such and all the guests were dripping with jewellery and black ties etc) I said I want to "use the bathroom" and was led to a very sumptuous gold fitting filled palace where a bloke even put soap on your hands and dried then (had to shake my own dick though)
