Al Jaxon's missus is the CI star. unfortunately hull telephone did nt like her, and the football league seemed to go off Al's awayday specials. Al's former web site said everything that needs to be said about the profile of the CI/Rivals poster. Oh how i miss Fenwick and the Days of Speed(way)

Lamby, you can surely remember when I was posting as Cage Tiger? And how EGD constantly dominated threads and accused everyone who didn't agree with him to be a fake fan.

It was either EGD's way or nobody's way. Apparently he's the only 'Real fan' of this ****ing Club. He really pissed me off and so I stopped posting.

This is a much more civilized board anyway isn't it lads? ;)

Reg is Reg, you always know where you stand with him, he's like the Brian Clough of message boards.

Personally, I like the mix of knowledge, humour and abuse, I'm very much at home there.

Fair point, but I go onto a board for discussion with fans who don't openly accuse another of not actually being a fan... This board, you can at least have that discussion with its mix of humour and witty cross-board banter.

With CI, it just seems as though there's a group of regular posters who want it to stay as that group. I tried to become a part of the group, but was almost made to feel as though I was not at all welcome.

I love CI. given the comments, ironically. one of the things I like less about it are posters who only post to have a dig at EDG.

I've argued with most on there at different times, and it definitely has a range of posters of differing hues backgrounds an experience. Yes, people will debate and challenge, that's what message boards are and yes, you'll get laughed off the board for trying to decide which after goal music we should have, but don't be fooled, there's some bright people on there.

As for Madhog, the allegations you make have been leveled time and again, even to the point of people getting the authorities to investigate. CANDW's been there since before Methuselah was born, and despite endless challenges has never found anything that was left on the board to action.

The irony is that a discussion on the rights and wrong of our respective opinions go against the board rules and will just simply result in the thread being closed.

This board is different, it's for different reasons and we keep politics and religion out of it because that's what the users want and is something I agree with. What helps us do that is having an alternative forum where other local issues are discussed.

has nt anyone ever heard of 'banter' and 'fighting fire with fire'. I ve had many immature virtual run-ins with most on there, including EDG, Dutch, CandW, even Lambrettaman, who I incidentally get on with very well with in person when we periodically meet at matches. Talk of the joys of Speedway is usually fair material to raise a nibble from your fishing float

As for Maddog, its important not to mix virtual reality with reality, and just get on with it. If CI depresses you. just get in the bath. play your after goal music, wipe off your tiger face-paint and cuddle your duck and squidgey tiger

Well that's not childish or offensive or what I'd expect from a CI regular.

So to reply in kind, MuppetHat, it doesn't depress me, quite the opposite. Thanks for the offer of a bath gaylord but no thanks. Face Paint at my age is even worse than a replica shirt, and I can't abide goal music, it's too american for me. Not really sure how to respond to the duck and squidgy tiger thing so in the spirit of CI I'll just say **** off.

Odd really, I thought you were one of the sensible ones, apart from your Sky thing.

I tend to find that people who say things along the lines of "it's only banter" are the people that don't understand it.
I think pretty much everyone on this planet loves a bit of banter, but some people appear to have an entirely different definition of it - in fact, "it's only banter" is usually a pathetic attempt at excusing downright bullying.

I should probably clarify that I wasn't saying that I found you personally to be particularly offensive or a bully, I was just making a general point about the use of the phrase "it's only banter."

Now you've just gone right ahead and made yourself look like a complete and utter **** without me having to lift a finger, well played <ok>

Thought the old rivals website was better than CI to be honest. Being able to mix it with other fans of other clubs is a reason why i came on the BBC site in the first place. I did go on Citymad but got bored of the lack of posters on there so i moved over to this forum.

I read CI match reports and browse the forum to see their opinions of the games. It's usually more balanced view & since i can't get to all the matches the reports are very welcome. I think, the amount of travelling some of the posters on there do in support of City is class. However, there are things i agree with and some i'm not too bothered in.

I'm sure there's the same level of football talk on here- ie appreciation of older City players, managers, teams, customs of fans, as there is on that site. Not everyone on here is what you call a "poodle". You still get the knee jerk reactions from posters, in the aftermath of a miserable defeat, on there as you do on here.

If you want a site to hate go have a look on the City facebook site. Never seen so many cretinous twats on any site as i have on there.
