Just local bands this year, no big names, who knows, my cousin's boyfriend is in a band and I think they might be playing at Freedom Festival
Spiritualized are a pretty big band and aren't from Hull. Martha Reeves is also pretty big I hear and she isn't from Hull strangely enough. There's quite a few non Hull bands.
Kid British are on tomorrow too...
She's not such a big deal, you can probably find a Motown star appearing in Hull every weekend if you look hard enough...
Certain Cam Stewart is friends with them... remember him tweeting once that he was listening to his mates Kid British. I like their sample of Madness in Our House is Dadless: They do a lot of covers in their own style now as well... I saw 3 different members of The Drifters in Tenerife last February. 2 of them werent a day over 40!!
This festival is going on in my backyard, quite literally. I will not be attending it tonight, but will have a little browse tomorrow afternoon and then I am hitting it proper tomorrow night. Watch some entertainment, eat some food from a van and have a couple of beers. If the sun stays out, it should be lovely. And yes, I also can't believe a year has passed since the last one. Worrying, it is, the passage of time...
Same here Party, right on me doorstep Had a look today but not a lot going on. Hell of a stage put up on Pier and it all looks geared up for the weekend.
Yeah on my wander back from work I noticed there's a few people beginning to gather in the pubs, and that structure they've put up looks interesting. No idea what's going on in there. I enjoyed it last year so looking forward to going again. Down Humber St they opened up all the old warehouses to put stages in for bands, or bars and stuff like that. It was good.
