For me there are many and they contradict as well as enhance . 1) Stadiums are far more appealing . 1) Stadiums are plastic and have no standing , no atmsopehere or nothing of what they used to . 2) Quality of football is higher/better . 2) The quality of football is higher but to the detriment of our National team . 3) Tickets are book now and assured . 3) The prices have gone up 100's of 1% of what they once were . 4) One of the best Legaues in the World . 4) It may be but its not as excting as it used to be as there are Leagues within Leagues and the smaller clubs have no chance to qualify for the Champions League .
I've just been reading this: http://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/zgmai/the_bad_side_of_football/, and it seems that the most prevalent source of discontent in football is the quality and price of pies and pasties. Warning: reading that thread will make you really want a pie. I'm going to get one now.
Cortese would really walk on water if he could provide decent food quickly on match days. No one else seems to have cracked it.
You're watching the most exciting football in the world, so based on this the price of tickets is actually relatively cheap.
Thats subjective and I dont think its the most exciting anyway , it may be a higher quality than it used to be but its not more exciting , our we ever honestly going to win the League ? The Bundesliga is probably the best , fixed prices , best stadiums , standing , and a great quality of teams on show .
Bundesliga is a fantastic league, I agree. I think that the Premier League and Bundesliga are the two best leagues in the world in terms of exciting matches, stadiums, quality of teams in the respective leagues. Will we win the league? It's very, very difficult, almost impossible, but they said that about putting a man on the moon.If are ever going to win the league this is the only time we'll do it in my lifetime with our current set up and financial backing, plus we've got a very special man in charge of it all, Nicola Cortese.
I can not see us in the near future out bidding Manchester United or City nevermind Arsenal , Liverpool , Spurs and Chelsea for the best players .
2 things won't happen in my lifetime... 1. Saints will not win the Premier League 2. England will not win the World Cup I am completely resigned to the fact that these two things will not come to pass. I have not, however, completely given up hope of getting to the front of the queue for Bovril before the 2nd half kicks off.
Just watched any top nation and the way they spray the ball around easily , we cant do that as we dont play that way and we do not have the players , we love seeing in our League but they dont realise its only the foreigners bar a few who can do that ie Scholes and he is nearly 38 !
I'm half way to my hundred, and I'm not greedy. If I live another 30 years I'll be grateful for the good times, and will hopefully have learned something from the bad. Obviousl, things can change, and very quickly, but it helps to keep your hopes realistic I reckon.
The way medicine is going, and with our already aging population, it wouldn't surprise me if we soon have a country full of ancient people who can't die.
That's the problem with humans. We love to mess around with nature, we are curious animals by nature. It will come back to haunt us in the future.
Realism is something on here sometimes I believe is missing , sure most read realism for pessimism thats their gig , I post what I believe and get hammered for it . Half the people on here honestly believe we will be in the Champions League in 5 years or so , what basis they have for that belief I do not know but their optimism is refreshing I suppose , most of them obviously dont remember the older times when optimism at this level was s**te kicked out of you by far superior teams .
In the words of Lemmy - him from MotorHead- "That's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live for ever."
Thats because they have stitched up Rodgers , Liverpool are cpost cutting and would not put a concrete offer in , Tranmere could outbid Liverpool at the moment , that cost cutting will only last for a while not permanently . And I think I did write in the near future ?
