Hmmm, well it could be worse for Alonso I guess, this could be fp3 (or quali, or Race!). At least its at a track where his closest rival may be at a car disadvantage.
Luckily it looks like it's just Hydraulics, not a gearbox failure. Hopefully no 5 place drop, i need someone to beat the McLarens.
Looking at Ferrari's pace if Alonso does get a 5 place penalty it will put him around where I assume Vettel and Webber will qualify. Will make for a interesting battle.
This is probably the worst track for this to happen, he needed to put the pressure on the Red Bulls. They've had so much luck since 2010 it's unreal.
Caterhams look like they might be in with a chance of fighting Toro Rosso this weekend, they were only a tenth off in P1 and now Kovalainen's in front of Vergne.
I believe if it was the gearbox that they were planning to use for the race then he is likely to get a penalty, if they can fix it by tommorow he'll be fine
What are the actual rules of "fixing" gearboxes though? I gathered it was just cleaning it etc, other than that you can't do anything to it as it is meant to be reliable on its own merit.
yeah baby, Ferrari twitter confirms no penalty. And Massa is looking quick in the long runs....FORZA FERRARI!
