Seems thats already in, my neighbour is a complete bastard who built and extension thats blocked off all the remaining light to my bedroom, I cant even see the sky now plus they have 2 windows looking right into it. I objected to it along with 2 others but the council did sweet FA. I might just start walking around naked all the time.
The board want to build a stadium, not simply a football ground. That has a lot of bearing on the size chosen. The stadium will be used by the Rs for a minimum of 19 PL games a season plus cup matches. Hopefully, in years to come, this will increase if European matches are played there. Of course there is no guarantee that we will be drawn at home in the cup. There could be the chance of staging some international matches at the ground. Loftus Road has already seen some of these in the past .... and I'm not talking England games! So we could be talking about as many as 30 games a year which could take good money. That leaves over 90% of the time free for other events. Other sporting events, music concerts, boxing, theatrical events, evangelical gatherings, etc will be the sort of thing that the board will try to bring to the new stadium. When selecting the capacity of the stadium these events have to be considered. They will want to make the stadium appeal to the organisers of these events. So there needs to be someone with experience of hosting these sorts of events. Guess what .. the Rs have got Phil Beard! It could be that the Rs only contribute 50% or even less to the total income from the stadium. They should, and not doubt have, thought very carefully about this balance. I certainly trust them to come up with the right number. The last thing that the board will want to do is to build a stadium and then have to expand it in 5 or 10 years time. Further expansion will cost money and reduce income during the building work. So whether they decide on 30, 40 or 50 thousand as the capacity you can be damn sure that they will have done their homework.
Exactly this! We know that we aren't going to fill 45k any time soon, but what about in a few years time when the stadium is actually built, hoping that we are an established premiership side? With the players we are attracting they will slowly add to the fan base and casual demand for premiership tickets. Plus as Eamon said the plan is for a venue, not a stadium. We need to appeal to promoters looking for something in between wembley at 90k and the o2 at 20k, so 45k is perfect for that purpose. Also I did read one reporter who suggested that the new stadium could have a retractable roof, which would all but elevate the noise problem. As for traffic, I'm sure it's something that would be tank into consideration, plus h&f council have stated that they want us to stay in the borough and I'm sure they'll be working with the club to make any plans work. It's just going to take time.
I thought most home games were evangelical meetings. there usually is a lot of praying going on. Seriously though, the Witnesses draw big crowds to Twickenham so there is some mileage in the suggestion especially with a roof.
Does anyone remember the Evangelical speaker Luis Palau at Loftus Road in the 1978? Having seen Phil "the unshaven" on Sky last night he was also taking about corporate entertaining and conferences.
Can we get the Reverend DT back - that was a good incarnation (sorry, wrong religion). I think Eamon summed up the situation perfectly and it's good to see that it is still at the forefront of the plans (rather than just some talk to keep us onside in the quiet pre-season). We've got the right people to push this home, the right ambition and the right mentality (ie keeping the amosphere of the football stadium).
Here is my idea:- I think we should share a ground with Fulham and/or Brentford, call it the West London Stadium. It can be 2 or 3 tiers, close top tier when BFC are playing (or Fulham tehe) Share the cost of building and build something to be proud off, a state of the art, architectually beautiful place. It doesn't need to be Blue/white, red/white or White/black. Fixtures not a problem now that games are Friday to Monday incase we are all drawn at home in the F A Cup, modern grass would last we could even change it half way through the season if needed. I am now behind the sofa.
Pathetic trivia I know but I seem to remember one of these (evangenical gatherings) before at Loftus Road - Luis Paulau or a similar lane. I hasten to add I didn't go along!
Indeed it was. Can't stand that wee cu*t. I wish Eusabio had of beaten him that night, that way we wouldn't have to listen to him whining on for the last 20 years.
Amit has already said we will not be sharing with another team and either way an area of land has already been identified
I'm with you on that as if I remember correctly Fulham were refused permission to rebuild Craven Cottage which is why they went back there after ground sharing with us. Both of us have wonderful old style stadiums that must be worth an absolute fortune if redeveloped due to their locations. What's good enough for Milan & Inter and Roma & Lazio should be good enough for the likes of us. Of course the difference is that San Siro and the Stadio Olimpico are both owned by their respective councils. 50,000 seater with the all the frills in partnership with FFC.
